Background / History

Underground Research Institute

Jenny served as the young second-in-command of an underground research institute and concentrated almost entirely on biological research. Dean Bo Li, her teacher, handled her affairs and claimed credit for several of her achievements, while Jenny remained focused on exploring the mysteries of life. 5 34

She first encountered Ba Di as the institute’s alien prisoner. Initially cold, rational, and professionally detached, she became intrigued when he appeared to react uniquely to her voice. Dean Bo Li assigned her to teach him English, hoping she could uncover information about Krypton and its technology. 7

Ba Di deliberately cultivated her sympathy by posing as Krypton’s last prince and implying that her voice reminded him of a lost lover. After months of contact, Jenny fell deeply in love with him and supplied him with information about the base, its research, and the outside world. 8 9

Ba Di's Escape

Jenny attempted to spare Ba Di from Slade’s plan to sever his tendons. She proposed using pulse radiofrequency procedures to disable his limbs instead, arguing that his knowledge, biology, and technological value could advance humanity. General Vick approved her proposal. 10

The procedure instead left Ba Di permanently paralyzed. Jenny collapsed under guilt and dedicated herself to finding a cure, while Ba Di encouraged her and continued exploiting her trust. 14

Believing she was helping prepare for their future together, Jenny took Ba Di to the base’s sunlight-accessible first basement level. The sunlight awakened his Kryptonian abilities, allowing him to break free. 19 21

During the escape, Ba Di shot Jenny twice in front of Slade, presenting her as a disposable “slave” and apparently betraying their relationship. He privately calculated that the base would save her because of her scientific value. 23

Obsession and Transformation

Jenny survived the shooting but emerged traumatized, refusing to accept General Vick’s condemnation of Ba Di. She retained the small red box containing the ring associated with their planned proposal and reacted violently to anyone who insulted him. 46 47

Following Ba Di’s attack on the institute, Jenny became increasingly unstable. She treated Slade as an experimental subject, created a dangerous Gene Serum from Ba Di’s ideas, and injected herself with a modified version in an attempt to gain power and prove herself to Ba Di. The serum transformed her into a monstrous giant in constant pain. 47 60

Despite her altered form and fear that Ba Di would reject her, Jenny continued to love him. When General Vick ordered Ba Di’s execution, she transformed into a giant beast, killed Vick and Colonel Violet, and destroyed the military camp to protect Ba Di. 93 94 95

Restoration and Return

Ba Di later created a bio-replica of Jenny as part of a plan to preserve the timeline while saving the real Jenny. He travelled back in time, used nanoparticles to place the original Jenny into dormancy, and allowed the replica to take her place in the original sequence of events. 226 245 248

Using Jenny’s cells, Ba Di restored her original human form. When she awakened, she remained traumatized by General Vick and instinctively tried to protect Ba Di, but accepted that she was alive and safe after he reassured her. 254 291

Two years later, Jenny had gained a Purple Lantern Ring and was helping Coast City’s population recover from Parallax’s influence. Kang Na subsequently selected her as a White Lantern, giving her a second Lantern Ring. 323 324
