Background

Obito participated in the Uchiha clan massacre alongside Itachi, controlling an Anbu attacker and personally seeking surviving Uchiha. When Su Ye awakened the Rinne Sharingan, Obito immediately took an interest in the new dojutsu and considered handing the eyes to “Lord Madara” for study. He allowed Su Ye an opportunity to escape, but remained determined to find him again. 1 2

Years before the main conflict, Obito approached Nagato under the guise of Madara’s proxy. He used the promise of world peace to influence Nagato into forming Akatsuki, while concealing the actual purpose of the Eye of the Moon Plan: reviving the Ten-Tails and using Infinite Tsukuyomi to control the world. 20

He also played a central role in the conspiracy behind the Uchiha extermination, exploiting Itachi’s desire to protect Sasuke and helping force Itachi into the role of a disgraced rogue ninja. 21

Appearance

Obito is initially concealed behind a mask, with a single visible scarlet eye. During the confrontation in the desert, he wears an orange mask and a black trench coat. 2 14

Obito is calculating, curious about rare ocular powers, and willing to manipulate others for his goals. His early interest in Su Ye’s Rinne Sharingan is driven less by immediate murder than by a desire to understand and obtain the eyes. 2

He is also ruthless toward subordinates and allies. He deceives Nagato into forming Akatsuki, uses Sasuke as bait against Itachi, and sacrifices Nagato to the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path to ensure his own escape. 18 20 21
