Frieza commands an army that conquers and sells planets, with the Saiyans serving as its principal combat force. He provides the alliance’s technology and resources, while treating the Saiyans as expendable subordinates rather than equals 1 3. He derives open pleasure from planetary destruction, describing an exploding world as a “firework” while Zarbon and Dodoria stand by as his direct attendants 2.

King Vegeta invited Frieza to Prince Vegeta’s birth banquet in an effort to manage the unequal relationship between their factions. Frieza attended with Zarbon and Dodoria, distributed 5,000 upgraded scouters, and announced that he would take Prince Vegeta into his army once the child turned five 2 3. His actual plan was to brainwash the prince and use him as leverage against King Vegeta 10.

Frieza had long viewed the Saiyans’ continual growth and the legend of the Super Saiyan as a future threat. Though he considered the legend doubtful, inherited warnings made him unwilling to risk its realization; once Kast killed Captain Ginyu and claimed to be the feared Super Saiyan, Frieza chose to eradicate the Saiyan race 9 18.
