Background / History

Tony is publicly humiliated after being kidnapped at the Four Seasons Hotel and photographed naked in Obadiah Stane's embrace. The resulting scandal dominates New York media coverage and contributes to a drop in Stark Industries' stock price. 5 8

After Loki publicly taunts him with a supposed curse, Tony initially dismisses the supernatural threat. His confidence is shaken when an unknown artificial intelligence contacts him, challenging his belief that JARVIS is the world's only AI. 11 12

While investigating a cursed video in his laboratory, Tony vanishes from surveillance footage and becomes trapped within a computer-screen dimension. Constantine enters the screen through magic and rescues him from being hanged. 14 15 17 Tony subsequently offers Constantine a position as Stark Industries' magical-technology consultant. 17
