Background / History

Following the Nine-Tails' rampage, Konoha's leadership suspected the Uchiha of controlling the beast through the Sharingan. The clan was scapegoated despite insufficient evidence, politically isolated, and forced to relocate its territory; the Hyuga Clan became its neighbor after defending it at the meeting 3 4.

The Uchiha maintained Konoha's public order through the Military Police Force. Its patrols materially improved village security, but villagers resented the clan's arrogant public image and continued associating it with Uchiha Madara's past betrayal 13. The clan had few battlefield opportunities after Konoha's founding, including during the Third Shinobi World War, which limited Fugaku's ability to gain distinction 78.

During Konoha's defense in the war, Fugaku and Shisui revealed their Mangekyo Sharingan and Susanoo. Their intervention made the Uchiha and Hyuga into Konoha's heroes, improved public opinion of the clan, and spread the clan's reputation throughout the Shinobi World 77 82.

Hyuga Hitoshi later supported Fugaku's path to the Hokage position, arguing that Fugaku was a Konoha founder's descendant, a meritorious shinobi, and one of the few figures capable of leading the weakened village 104. Konoha's defense
