Background / History

Illumi arrives in Sankara Town with his younger brother Milluki while investigating the Creation Society. He silently interrupts Milluki’s confrontation with Bai Zhu, having approached closely enough to avoid Bai Zhu’s notice, and warns Milluki not to engage unknown people carelessly 1 2.

Initially, Illumi dismisses Bai Zhu as weak and refuses his proposed partnership. His attitude changes after using Gyo on the Creation Society’s children and confirming that they all possess nearly identical, untrained Nen—a phenomenon he considers profoundly abnormal 3.

After Bai Zhu captures Pige Aaron, Illumi examines the unfamiliar Kidō binding and accepts Bai Zhu’s explanation that his Reiatsu is a Nen-derived power altered by an extreme vow. Judging Bai Zhu more useful alive than dead, he becomes part of the investigation and uses a Nen Needle to turn Aaron into an obedient informant 10.

Illumi infiltrates the Creation Society by impersonating the pregnant Ella. The Elder identifies his disguised body as an ideal vessel for the Holy Advent Ritual after Illumi endures contaminated postmortem Nen and secretly isolates its effects with Nen Needles 12 16.

When the ritual schedule is accelerated, Illumi maintains the false pregnancy by creating artificial muscular responses for the Fetal Breath Resonance test. He later stages “Container Number Fifteen’s” apparent supernatural disappearance, assumes new identities, and remains underground to map the altar, Black Crystal system, and sacrificial operation 17 22 23.

During the final crisis, Illumi is exposed by the white-clad Holy Son and abandons stealth to sabotage the facility through his controlled personnel. His decoys and puppets prove ineffective against the Black Crystal system, which tracks living targets and corrodes Nen; by the Pope’s awakening, his escape routes have been sealed 47 50.
