  • Lockhart made Harry and Hermione help him answer fan letters as detention.
  • Hermione encouraged Lockhart to enter politics and suggested ways he could build a heroic public image.
  • Harry panicked as Hermione proposed arranging an assassination attempt to boost Lockhart’s popularity.
  • Lockhart declined to face Dark Wizards, though Hermione’s advice greatly impressed him.
  • Harry heard someone whispering nearby, and Hermione addressed the unseen presence.

Ch. 77Victim Number One

Harry heard a basilisk threatening to kill someone, and the next morning he and Ron found Mrs. Norris petrified beside a bloody warning. As Filch accused Harry and the professors arrived, Hermione announced that she knew who the culprit was.

  • Harry heard the basilisk whisper about blood and killing, but Hermione urged him not to worry about it.
  • Ron fetched Hermione the next morning, and she joined Harry at the corridor where Mrs. Norris hung petrified beside a message declaring that the Chamber of Secrets had been opened.
  • Filch found Mrs. Norris and accused Harry of murdering his cat, while students gathered and Malfoy insulted Muggle-born wizards.
  • Dumbledore stopped Filch from attacking Harry and examined the bloody writing with the other professors.
  • Hermione said she knew who had committed the crime.

Ch. 78Petrification reversed

Hermione exposed Draco’s suspicious remark as apparent evidence, then helped revive Mrs. Norris after discovering that a Petrification Cure Potion was needed. The real cause of the petrification remained unknown as the investigation continued.

  • Hermione blamed Draco for the attacks because he had said, “You'll be next,” and Draco panicked and slapped himself while denying it.
  • Dumbledore told Filch that Mrs. Norris had been petrified rather than killed, and Lockhart claimed he could cure her before Hermione intervened.
  • Hermione’s countercurse failed, revealing that Mrs. Norris had not been affected by a petrification curse, and Hermione vouched for Harry’s whereabouts the previous night.
  • Snape proposed using a Petrification Cure Potion, and Hermione produced a bottle she had brewed herself.
  • Snape praised Hermione’s potion, which was given to Mrs. Norris and restored her; Filch thanked Hermione repeatedly.

Ch. 79Poisoning

Hermione investigated Snape’s actions at Hogwarts and then traveled to New York after Pepper revealed Tony was suffering from palladium poisoning. She examined Tony and began preparing a potion to save him.

  • Hermione suggested Snape might have been trying to clear Harry as a suspect, but Harry and Ron rejected the idea.
  • Hermione encouraged Harry to try her mysterious suggestion for improving his relationship with Snape, then left to begin investigating and await the Class Trial.
  • Pepper told Hermione that Tony had survived an attack by a whip-wielding assailant in Monaco but had been hiding his palladium poisoning.
  • Hermione opened a Portal to meet Tony, Pepper, Nick Fury, and Natasha at a doughnut shop, where Tony admitted S.H.I.E.L.D.’s antidote could only temporarily ease the poisoning.
  • Hermione examined Tony with magic, confirmed his poisoning was severe, and took out a cauldron and ingredients.

Ch. 80Drink! Why Won't You Drink?!

Hermione brewed an antidote from rare ingredients and forced Tony to drink it, curing the palladium poisoning in his blood. After she revealed that the potion required unicorn blood, Fury warned her to keep the secret, and Tony realized how much she had sacrificed to save him.

  • Hermione brewed a potion and insisted that Tony drink it despite his doubts about its ingredients and effectiveness.
  • Tony drank the potion and discovered that the palladium in his blood had dropped to zero and that other toxins were gone.
  • Hermione warned Tony that using the Iron Man Armor too much could poison him again, then refused his offer to pay for eight or ten bottles a month.
  • Hermione revealed that the potion required unicorn blood, an ingredient used to make the Elixir of Life.
  • Fury cautioned Hermione to keep the secret of the Elixir of Life from greedy politicians, and Tony understood how precious the potion she had used to save him was.

Ch. 81The Room of Requirement

Hermione explained that Tony could not keep taking potions indefinitely, then gave Natasha a magical bracelet before returning to Hogwarts. There, Hermione found and reshaped the Room of Requirement into a spacious alchemy and planting workspace.

  • Hermione warned Tony that repeated potions could kill him, and Fury told him that Howard Stark had left materials at S.H.I.E.L.D. that might help him find a palladium replacement.
  • Hermione gave Natasha a bracelet enchanted with a Disillusionment Charm and left by Apparition to teach her class.
  • Fury called Natasha about an emergency in New Mexico and asked Hermione to identify an object, which Natasha recognized from the photo as a hammer.
  • Hermione searched the seventh floor of Hogwarts, found the hidden Room of Requirement, and transformed its layout to suit her needs.

Ch. 82Why is the top of your head pointy?

Hermione used the Room of Requirement to grow magical plants, recharge the Philosopher’s Stone, and begin transforming a horse into a unicorn. After helping Luna recover her stolen shoe, Hermione followed her to the edge of the Forbidden Forest, where they waited for a black silhouette approaching from the sky.

  • Hermione planted Mandrakes, Venomous Tentacula, and Biting Cabbage, then replenished the Philosopher’s Stone with alchemical materials.
  • Hermione injected unicorn blood into a white horse in the Room of Requirement’s breeding ground, and a horn began to grow on its head.
  • Hermione found two girls bullying Luna and summoned Luna’s hidden shoe from a ceiling beam.
  • Hermione advised Luna to fight back if the girls bullied her again, and Luna followed Hermione after retrieving her shoe.
  • Luna led Hermione to the edge of the Forbidden Forest, where they waited as a black silhouette flew toward them.

Ch. 83Teaching Dark Magic (Defense)

Hermione met Luna and fed Wu Wu, a Thestral, while collecting its blood, then joined Lockhart’s Duelling Club lesson and began teaching the students about dark magic. She left the class poised to explain the Unforgivable Curses.

  • Luna told Hermione that she could see Wu Wu because she had witnessed death, and Hermione admitted she had also killed.
  • Hermione fed Wu Wu raw meat, collected a vial of Thestral blood, and accepted a copy of The Quibbler from Luna.
  • Hermione asked Snape whether Lockhart had leverage over him, and Snape told her not to ask.
  • At the Duelling Club, Lockhart introduced Hermione as his teaching assistant and asked her to cover basic knowledge of dark magic.
  • Hermione asked the gathered students to define dark magic, and Justin Finch-Fletchley described it as magic meant to harm, control, or kill others.
  • Hermione asked the class to name the three Unforgivable Curses.

Ch. 84Three spells, one wand

Hermione taught the students about the three Unforgivable Curses by using them on an Acromantula, shocking the Great Hall. The lesson ended with Luna suggesting that the key was simply not getting caught.

  • Hermione enlarged an Acromantula and used the Imperius Curse to control it, demonstrating how the curse removed its victims’ free will.
  • Hermione cast the Cruciatus Curse on the spider, making Neville visibly shaken as he watched.
  • Snape tried to stop Hermione, but she killed the Acromantula with Avada Kedavra while Harry felt pain in his scar and stayed composed.
  • Hermione explained that the curses were forbidden when used on humans, and Luna concluded that a wizard only had to avoid getting caught.

Ch. 85Hogwarts ✗, Durmstrang ✓

Hermione explained the Unforgivable Curses and advised students to strike first against Dark wizards before redirecting the lesson to the Disarming Charm. After Snape easily disarmed Lockhart in a demonstration duel, Malfoy panicked when Lockhart tried to pair him with Hermione and begged for someone else.

  • Hermione described the Unforgivable Curses and recommended striking first, prompting Snape to intervene before she shifted to teaching the Disarming Charm.
  • Lockhart challenged Snape to demonstrate the spell, but Snape disarmed and knocked him down almost immediately.
  • Lockhart dismissed his defeat as a successful demonstration and asked for Gryffindor and Slytherin volunteers.
  • Snape chose Malfoy for the duel, while Lockhart asked Hermione to participate.
  • Malfoy collapsed in terror, screamed for Hermione to stay away, and clung to Snape's leg.

Ch. 86Parseltongue

During Lockhart’s dueling demonstration, Harry unexpectedly spoke Parseltongue after Malfoy summoned a cobra, frightening the class. Hermione destroyed the snake and made herself seem more threatening than Harry, then left with Luna while Harry and Ron followed.

  • Lockhart called Harry to duel Malfoy, and Hermione set the rules that they could use only the Disarming Charm.
  • Malfoy and Harry traded spells, and Malfoy summoned a cobra that Lockhart failed to remove safely.
  • When the cobra hissed, Harry spoke Parseltongue and approached it, shocking the students and Snape.
  • Hermione disintegrated the cobra, then magically lifted Harry and Malfoy until they apologized for breaking the rules.
  • Lockhart ended class early, and Hermione left with Luna as the frightened students watched.
  • Harry and Ron caught up with Hermione, and Harry thanked her for drawing the class’s fear away from him.

Ch. 87Dumbledore's attitude

Harry learned that his ability to speak Parseltongue had made students suspect he was Slytherin’s heir, while Hermione recognized that the real heir posed a threat to her. In the Headmaster’s office, Snape urged Dumbledore to keep Hermione away from Harry, but Dumbledore defended her and insisted she was no danger.

  • Hermione explained that Harry was a Parselmouth and that students suspected he was Slytherin’s heir because Salazar Slytherin had shared the ability.
  • Harry realized that the hidden heir might target Hermione, and Ron promised that they would protect her.
  • Snape warned Dumbledore that Hermione was dangerous and demanded that she be kept away from Harry.
  • Snape described Hermione’s dark-magic demonstration in class and compared her to the young Voldemort, while Dumbledore said she reminded him more of Gellert.
  • Dumbledore defended Hermione’s lesson as a way to teach students about dark magic and reassured Snape that nothing would happen.

Ch. 88Harry meets Snape

Snape discovered Harry dressed as a girl, mistook him for Lily at first, and ordered him to change back. Hermione then accepted Nick Fury’s request to investigate a mysterious New Mexico incident and identified the hammer in the files as Mjolnir, Thor’s hammer.

  • Snape told Dumbledore that Harry was a Parselmouth, but Dumbledore remained unmoved and Snape left his office.
  • Snape encountered Harry wearing a dress and wig, briefly mistook him for Lily, and told him to change back.

  • Nick Fury asked Hermione to investigate strange events in New Mexico, and she agreed after requesting payment in magical materials.
  • Hermione stepped through a portal to meet Coulson, examined the incident files, and identified the hammer as Mjolnir, Thor’s hammer.

Ch. 89Magic versus divine power

Hermione joined S.H.I.E.L.D.'s investigation of Mjolnir and discovered that Odin's enchantment was too powerful for her to break. After witnessing her clash with the hammer's magic, Sitwell began considering abandoning Hydra and attaching himself to Hermione.

  • Coulson told Hermione that a captured man might be connected to Mjolnir and took her to the crater where the hammer had landed.
  • Hermione tried to lift Mjolnir, then used the Spellbook's newly identified Asgardian Runes to attempt to remove its restriction.
  • Odin's magic resisted Hermione's spell, unleashing storms and a powerful will that made her release the hammer.
  • Hermione told Coulson and Sitwell that Odin's magic was stronger than hers and that she could not yet break the enchantment.
  • Sitwell reconsidered his loyalty to Hydra and thought that joining Hermione might be a better choice.

Ch. 90First meeting with the Thunder God

Hermione met Thor in SHIELD custody, learned that he had been exiled to Earth and believed Odin was dead, and arranged for his release. Thor left with Jane Foster and her companions, while Hermione kept Odin’s true condition secret.

  • Hermione signaled Coulson to let Thor go, then questioned whether SHIELD should imprison Asgard’s heir now that they knew who he was.

Ch. 91Loki, the Melee Mage

  • Loki proposed that Hermione help him rule Asgard in exchange for his help conquering Earth, and Hermione burst out laughing.

Ch. 92The Destroyer Descends

Hermione agreed to help Loki after hearing his offer, though she wanted something other than Earth. Days later, Thor’s Asgardian friends arrived to reveal Loki had taken the throne, but their reunion was interrupted by the arrival of a massive armored figure.

  • Hermione blocked Heimdall from listening and heard Loki offer her power and immortality in exchange for helping him take the throne.
  • Hermione agreed to help Loki but told him she wanted something other than Earth.

Ch. 93Tornado destroys the parking lot

Thor regained his powers when Mjolnir returned to him, and he joined Hermione in fighting the Destroyer Armor. Hermione restrained the armor while Thor summoned a lightning-filled tornado and crashed into it, leaving the battle unresolved.

  • The Destroyer Armor attacked Thor, and he offered himself to Loki to protect his friends, but it struck him down after turning away.
  • Mjolnir flew to Thor, healed him, and restored his armor and powers as the Thunder God.
  • Hermione shielded Jane and the others from the Destroyer's fire, then damaged it with spells that it quickly repaired.
  • Hermione lifted the Destroyer Armor with Levicorpus and urged Thor to attack while it was restrained.
  • Thor summoned lightning and a tornado, then dove into the Destroyer Armor and drove them both toward the ground.

Ch. 94Switching sides

Hermione traveled with Thor to Asgard, where Loki killed Laufey and threatened to destroy Jotunheim with the Bifrost. When Thor confronted him, Hermione turned on Thor, and Loki revealed that destroying Jotunheim had been her plan all along.

  • Hermione collected the Destroyer Armor’s remains and joined Thor and the Warriors Three as they returned to Asgard.
  • Thor and Hermione reached Odin’s bedchamber, where Loki killed Laufey and claimed he had saved Odin from the Frost Giants.
  • Loki fled to the Bifrost control room and told Thor he intended to destroy Jotunheim to prove he deserved the throne.
  • Hermione arrived after treating Frigga’s injuries, then disarmed Thor and suspended him with magic.
  • Loki revealed that Hermione, not he, had planned to destroy Jotunheim.

Ch. 95Destroying Jotunheim

Hermione used Loki’s ambition to gain access to the Bifrost and tried to destroy Jotunheim, planning to harvest the Frost Giants’ souls. Thor destroyed the Bifrost to stop her, but Jotunheim was already consumed, and Hermione gained 105927 soul energy.

  • Several days earlier, Hermione asked Loki to help her use the Bifrost to destroy Jotunheim and showed him disturbing scenes in a crystal ball.
  • Hermione activated the Bifrost and directed its rainbow beam at Jotunheim while Loki blocked Thor.
  • Thor broke free of Hermione’s spells and defeated Loki, then charged the Bifrost to stop the attack.
  • Thor smashed the Bifrost, which shattered after the beam had already consumed Jotunheim.
  • Hermione received a Spellbook notification showing 105927 points of soul energy.

Ch. 96The Ancient One to the Rescue

Hermione harvested the energy from the Bifrost’s destruction, while Loki handed her the Casket of Ancient Winters before leaping into the spatial collapse. Odin confronted Hermione over her actions, but The Ancient One arrived and privately told him something that left him shocked and uncertain about Hermione.

  • Hermione shielded herself from the Bifrost blast as Odin saved Thor and Hermione pulled Loki back from the spatial collapse.
  • Loki gave Hermione the Casket of Ancient Winters and then leaped into the collapsing space, leaving Thor grieving and blaming Hermione for not saving him.
  • Hermione defended her actions to Odin, arguing that she had protected Earth and Asgard, and criticized Odin’s mercy toward their enemies.
  • As Odin prepared to confront Hermione, The Ancient One arrived through a Portal and cautioned Hermione against taking her actions to extremes.
  • The Ancient One spoke privately with Odin, who reacted with shock and looked at Hermione in disbelief.

Ch. 97Destroyer Wand

After returning safely to Earth with the Ancient One, Hermione used uru metal from the Destroyer and the Casket of Ancient Winters’ Ice Core to craft a powerful new wand. The Spellbook confirmed the Destroyer Wand could strengthen her ice magic and accept additional magical properties.

  • The Ancient One brought Hermione back to Kamar-Taj, where Hermione met Kaecilius and warned him about his future path.
  • Hermione spent over thirty thousand soul energy to raise her magic to level four and discovered that level five required five hundred thousand experience.

  • Hermione separated the dragon heartstring from her original wand and fused it with the uru metal to form a new wand.
  • Hermione embedded the Ice Core in the wand, and the Spellbook identified it as the Destroyer Wand, which enhanced her ice magic and could gain more properties.

Ch. 98Hunting in the Forbidden Forest

  • Hermione cast a freezing spell that encased the spider swarm in ice.

Ch. 99The Chamber of Secrets Opens

Hermione froze a vast stretch of the Forbidden Forest while Harry and Ron searched for Ginny, who had been taken into the Chamber of Secrets. Inside, Tom Riddle revealed his plan and knocked Harry and Ron unconscious as an unseen figure stunned Ron from behind.

  • Hermione left Harry and Ron, then used powerful freezing magic to turn a large part of the Forbidden Forest into ice and harvest soul energy from its creatures.
  • Harry and Ron learned that Ginny had vanished and found a blood-written message threatening her; they blamed Malfoy and went to find Hermione.
