Chapters 151–175 Vol. 2 Read

Ch. 151Why not use Super Speed?

Miaomiao, Damian, and Little Jo explored the Kent farm, where Miaomiao tried eating raw corn and Damian demonstrated his skill with a Batarang. When Damian asked why Little Jo had not used Super Speed, Little Jo confessed that he struggled to control his emerging powers.

  • Little Jo showed Miaomiao and Damian the farm's vast cornfield, and Miaomiao eagerly bit into an ear before peeling it and trying the raw kernels.
  • Little Jo invited his friends to see his secret hideout and newly hatched chicks as they talked about their abilities.
  • Damian said his brain and blade were his superpowers, then threw a Batarang deep into a tree trunk.
  • Damian asked Little Jo why he had not used Super Speed, and Little Jo admitted that he was weak as a child and still could not control his powers properly.

Ch. 152Hey! Take my Batarang!

Damian tried to trigger Little Jo’s dormant powers by hitting him with a Batarang, while Miaomiao defended the harsh method and treated his injury. At the Kent Farmhouse, Martha told Damian how Little Jo’s loneliness and disappointment on his birthday had led to his heat vision awakening, leaving the full story of that painful memory unfolding.

  • Little Jo told Damian that he had only awakened heat vision and still struggled to control it, so Damian asked how it first appeared.
  • Little Jo recalled that his heat vision erupted when he was upset on his birthday, after his father revealed that he was Superman.
  • Damian threw an unsharpened Batarang at Little Jo’s head to test whether trauma would awaken another power, and Miaomiao cooled the swelling with water.
  • Miaomiao explained that dangerous training was normal for Damian and merfolk children, leaving Little Jo bewildered as they continued their outing.
  • The three children returned to the Kent Farmhouse, where Martha told Damian that Little Jo had grown up feeling isolated and hurt by Clark’s absences.
  • Martha described how Little Jo missed baseball pitches, was mocked by classmates, and waited in vain for Clark to attend his birthday game.

Ch. 153Blueberries or cherries

Damian visited the Kent farm and learned how Little Jo discovered his powers and found comfort in his father, Superman. Martha reassured Damian that he was worthy of love, and the chapter ended with the children sharing cake and fresh apple pie.

  • Little Jo recalled how his heat vision accidentally destroyed the barn, and how Clark found him and restored his trust by arriving as Superman.
  • Martha told Damian she hoped he and Little Jo could understand each other, but Damian contrasted Little Jo’s loving family with his own painful past.
  • Martha reassured Damian that he did not need to become someone else to be loved, and Damian’s guarded expression softened slightly.
  • Miaomiao and Little Jo brought Damian a cake decorated with blueberries on one half and cherries on the other, then asked him to choose the prettier side.
  • Martha brought out freshly baked apple pie and invited the children to share both desserts.

Ch. 154The night grew warmer

Miaomiao, Little Jo, and Martha welcomed Damian into a noisy, affectionate meal that eased his loneliness. Miaomiao and Damian stayed overnight with the Kent family, and Miaomiao fell asleep beside Martha while Damian shared Little Jo’s room.

  • Little Jo and Miaomiao urged Damian to try their respective halves of the cake, and he quietly ate the treats they put on his plate.
  • Martha watched the children bicker and laugh as Damian’s loneliness faded and he softened toward them.
  • Miaomiao and Damian stayed the night at the Kent home, with Miaomiao sharing Martha’s room and Damian sharing Little Jo’s.
  • Martha reassured Miaomiao that she could sleep normally, offered her warm milk, and promised to make breakfast in the morning.
  • Miaomiao settled into bed beside Martha and drifted peacefully to sleep, while Damian and Little Jo faced an awkward atmosphere in their room.

Ch. 155The twins make peace

Damian and Little Jo discussed their loneliness and insecurities, and Damian admitted he did not hate Little Jo, agreeing to a truce. The next morning, they joined Miaomiao to visit the Kent farm animals.

  • Damian struggled to sleep beside Little Jo and snapped at him for tossing and turning.
  • Little Jo asked Damian whether he hated him, and Damian insisted that Little Jo had done nothing wrong.
  • Little Jo shared how classmates bullied him, and Damian admitted that others disliked and feared him too.
  • Damian told Little Jo he did not hate him, and the boys agreed to a truce.
  • Miaomiao woke the boys, and Damian and Little Jo went with her to see the farm animals after breakfast.

Ch. 156The Milk Aftermath

Miaomiao fed the chicks while Damian reluctantly learned to milk Betty, overcoming an embarrassing first attempt and filling a bucket. Miaomiao struggled to bottle the milk without spilling it, then had an idea.

  • Miaomiao fed grain to the chicks and gently stroked one.
  • Damian agreed to learn milking after Miaomiao pointed out that Little Jo could not always help with Bat-Cow.
  • Little Jo showed Damian how to milk Betty, but Damian squeezed too hard, got splashed with milk, and was flicked by Betty's tail.
  • Damian tried again with less force and gradually learned to milk Betty as Miaomiao and Little Jo cheered him on.
  • Miaomiao tried to help Mrs. Martha bottle the milk but spilled some and stopped, unwilling to waste food.
  • Miaomiao suddenly said she had an idea.

Ch. 157Damian and the Sheep

Miaomiao used her water-control ability to bottle milk before the children went to feed the lambs. Damian was knocked over by a ram named Fast and threatened Miaomiao and Little Jo to keep the humiliating incident secret.

  • Miaomiao controlled the milk in the bucket and poured it into bottles, impressing Little Jo and Martha.
  • Miaomiao, Little Jo, and Damian went to feed the lambs after finishing their farm chores.
  • Damian dismissed the lambs as childish while Miaomiao and Little Jo cuddled them.
  • Fast charged Damian from behind and sent him sprawling across the grass.
  • Miaomiao and Little Jo helped Damian up and explained that Fast liked ramming people.
  • Damian threatened Miaomiao and Little Jo not to tell anyone, then confronted Fast.

Ch. 158Ram wrestling

Damian turned Fast’s repeated charges into a game and gradually relaxed as he played with the ram. Watching him, Little Jo said he had figured out how to get along with the Bat crowd.

  • Fast repeatedly charged at Damian, who dodged and resisted using force while Miaomiao and Little Jo watched.
  • Little Jo explained that Fast treated chasing and butting people as a game when he liked them.
  • Damian decided to meet Fast’s challenge, dodging the ram and patting his fleece as it charged.
  • Fast pressed into Damian’s arms, and Damian began stroking him and playing with him on the grass.
  • Little Jo watched Damian enjoy himself and told Miaomiao he had figured out how to get along with the Bat crowd.

Ch. 159Going Home

Damian, Miaomiao, and Jonathan finished their weekend at Kent Farm after Damian and Jonathan grew more comfortable with each other. As Alfred drove them back to Gotham, Damian asked about the city, where the plan to make the Joker forget was continuing.

  • After Damian realized how much he had played with Fast, he searched for Jonathan and learned that Jonathan had been fetching water.
  • Damian helped Jonathan water the sheep and cows, and the two got along without Miaomiao smoothing things over.
  • Damian offered a large sum to take Fast home, but Jonathan refused, and the three said goodbye to the animals.
  • When Jonathan asked if they were friends, Miaomiao explained that Damian had already accepted him, and Damian dragged her away in embarrassment.
  • Alfred picked up Miaomiao and Damian and drove them home, reporting that Gotham was as usual and that their plan involving the Joker was progressing.

Ch. 160Infiltrating Arkham

Miaomiao, Damian, and Tim worked to weaken Joker’s influence and keep him confined, learning that Dionesium made him nearly impossible to kill. Miaomiao and Damian infiltrated Arkham to carry out her plan, while Arkham’s guards approached unaware of them.

  • Tim’s software buried information about Joker, while Miaomiao’s song helped reduce crime and weaken the Joker Gang’s hold on its members.
  • Damian, Miaomiao, and Tim planned how to keep Joker in Arkham, and Tim explained that Dionesium gave Joker near-immortal healing.
  • Miaomiao decided to use a dream to deal with Joker instead of injuring him.
  • Damian and Miaomiao entered Arkham’s high-risk isolation ward with Tim hacking its surveillance systems.
  • Two guards approached their hiding place as the older guard warned his new partner that Arkham inmates usually wanted guards’ lives.

Ch. 161Seeing Joker Again

Damian and Miaomiao infiltrated Arkham’s isolation ward with Tim’s help to reach Joker’s cell. Joker recognized Damian and Miaomiao through the glass and taunted them for sneaking in without Batman’s knowledge.

  • An older guard warned the young guard that Arkham was dangerous and led him through a brief security inspection.
  • Damian secretly copied the older guard’s ID card and used it to enter the isolation area with Miaomiao while Tim suppressed the alarm.
  • Damian and Miaomiao evaded the special ward’s guards and reached Joker’s heavily monitored cell.
  • Joker spotted Damian and Miaomiao, recognized them as members of the Bat Family, and invited them to play a game.

Ch. 162A "Gift" for Joker

Miaomiao used sorrowful and painful pearls with her Merfolk song to trap Joker in a soundless isolation. After the effect ended, Joker escaped into an empty Gotham and realized he had no audience.

  • Damian watched while Miaomiao confronted Joker in his cell and used pearl powder that passed through the bulletproof glass.
  • Miaomiao sang, leaving Joker unable to make or hear any sound as she and the others disappeared.
  • Joker spent days alone in Arkham without food or visitors, growing afraid that the world had forgotten him.
  • Joker's voice returned, and he forced open his cell door and escaped through the deserted Arkham.
  • Joker wandered through an empty Gotham, causing destruction before wondering where Batman, Gordon, the police, and the city's civilians had gone.

Ch. 163The Bat Brats Gather

Miaomiao used her Illusion Song to trap Joker in a dream, then escaped Arkham with Damian and Jason before Batman arrived. The Bat Brats gathered at Jason’s new safe house, where Jason demanded to know why Miaomiao had gone to Arkham and what she had taken from his old safe house.

  • Miaomiao used her Illusion Song on Joker, leaving him silent and trapped in an illusion.
  • Jason appeared in Arkham, and he, Miaomiao, and Damian left after Tim warned that Batman was on his way.
  • Miaomiao and Damian erased signs of their intrusion and returned to Wayne Manor by water.
  • Batman arrived at Arkham and ordered the guards to give him all surveillance footage, recordings, and access logs.
  • The Bat Brats met at Jason’s new safe house, where Miaomiao asked for hot dogs and Jason questioned her about the beads she had taken.

Ch. 164Operation "Forget"

Jason confronted Miaomiao, Damian, and Tim after they visited Arkham and questioned their reasons for going to Joker. Tim admitted they were planning an operation called “Forget,” intended to make Gotham forget the fear Joker had caused and forget Joker himself.

  • Jason deduced that the three had taken the Pearl from his safe house and demanded to know why they had gone to Arkham.
  • Tim claimed they had been testing Arkham’s security, while Miaomiao said she had sung to quiet Joker and Damian said he had gone to supervise Tim.
  • Jason challenged their explanations and asked what they were planning.
  • Tim admitted they had gone to Arkham for Joker and told Jason their plan was called “Forget.”

Ch. 165Count Me In

Jason discovered that Miaomiao, Damian, and Tim had been secretly working to erase the Joker’s influence in Gotham and had trapped him in an illusion where no one paid attention to him. After pointing out that Arkham had detected their intrusion and Batman would soon be alerted, Jason offered to help them.

  • Damian, Miaomiao, and Tim explained how they were suppressing the Joker’s influence, disrupting his followers, and hiding his traces in Gotham.
  • Jason asked what they had done to the Joker, and Miaomiao admitted she had used Illusion Song to make him feel alone and ignored.
  • Miaomiao said she had only wanted the Joker to behave and remain in Arkham, honoring her promise to Bruce not to kill anyone.
  • Jason warned the three that Tim’s hacking had triggered Arkham’s backup alert, Damian had missed rooftop thermal cameras, and Batman had defenses against Miaomiao’s sound-based magic.
  • Jason told the rookies he would cover for them and join their plan.

Ch. 166Butler Batman to the rescue

Bruce confronted Tim, Damian, Jason, and Miaomiao after discovering Joker had been hypnotized at Arkham, but Alfred intervened and Bruce let the teenagers go to bed. Alfred implied that he had helped keep Joker harmless, while Miaomiao admitted she had shared the cookies with Little Croc, Pamela, and others.

  • Bruce waited in the Batcave and questioned Tim, Damian, Jason, and Miaomiao about where they had been.
  • Tim, Damian, and Jason gave Bruce explanations, while Miaomiao confessed to eating all of Alfred’s cookies.
  • Bruce revealed that Arkham’s security system had detected an intruder and Joker had entered deep hypnosis without sedatives.
  • Alfred brought the teenagers milk and cookies, and Bruce let them go to bed.
  • Alfred hinted that he had protected Gotham by giving Joker a harmless dream, and Bruce accepted a cookie without pressing him.
  • Miaomiao told the others she had shared the cookies with Little Croc, Pamela, and others.

Ch. 167The "Janus" Company

Tim, Jason, Damian, and Miaomiao planned to acquire the Joker’s former hideouts, but their status as minors made buying the properties difficult without Bruce Wayne’s signature. Their investigation revealed the Ace Chemical Plant belonged to Janus, a company that seemed connected to Two-Face.

  • Tim explained that the Abandoned Amusement Park and Ace Chemical Plant were under Batman’s surveillance, making a covert purchase difficult.
  • Jason offered to use a false identity, Jason Peters, since the legal identity Jason Todd was officially dead.
  • Tim said Gotham had repeatedly lowered the auction price for the Abandoned Amusement Park, so the group decided to buy it first.
  • Tim explained the Ace Chemical Plant’s history as Kane Chemicals and described how it became abandoned after pollution and villain activity.
  • Tim revealed that the plant belonged to Janus, prompting Jason and Damian to suspect Two-Face was involved, while Miaomiao recalled him from a guide to Gotham’s villains.

Ch. 168The abandoned amusement park

Miaomiao learned about Two-Face's past as Gotham's Bright Knight while Jason went to City Hall to investigate the abandoned amusement park. City Hall staff explained how the park passed through misfortune and criminal hands before becoming Joker's lair.

  • Tim told Miaomiao that Two-Face had once been an upright judge and one of Bruce's closest friends before an attack transformed him into a villain.
  • Damian argued that Two-Face's psychological problems, rather than his disfigurement alone, had led to his behavior, and Miaomiao laughed at his coin-flipping examples.
  • Jason headed to City Hall to investigate securing the amusement park while the others looked into who owned Ace Chemical Plant.
  • City Hall staff told newcomer Yat that the park's original owner went bankrupt, the next owner died in an inexplicable accident, and Brick later bought and resold the property to criminals.
  • The staff explained that the amusement park eventually returned to the city government and became Joker's chosen lair.

Ch. 169Amusement park, secured!

Jason bought the abandoned amusement park on Happy Avenue at auction, despite its connection to Joker and the danger surrounding it. He left with the property, intending to make it a place where Gotham’s children could play without fear.

  • Yat’s coworkers explained that Joker was real and that Gotham residents believed Batman was a supernatural, shape-shifting protector.
  • Gotham’s amusement park property repeatedly failed to sell because bidders feared Joker’s forces and the dangerous traces left behind.
  • Jason, disguised as Jason Peter, bid five million dollars for the amusement park and secured the sale.
  • The municipal official hurried to transfer the property and offered to expedite the remaining paperwork and permits.
  • Jason signed the contract and said he intended to make the amusement park a safe place for Gotham’s children.

Ch. 170I Was the Last to Know?

Jason and the other young Wayne family members celebrated buying an abandoned amusement park and planned to make it safe for Gotham's children. Jason learned Dick and Tim had known about the plan from the beginning, while Alfred had also suspected something.

  • Jason completed the paperwork to buy the abandoned amusement park despite the staff member's warning about Joker.
  • Jason removed his disguise in the car, and Dick, Tim, Damian, and Miaomiao celebrated their new amusement park.
  • Damian argued that he should be allowed to drive, while Miaomiao shared Alfred's cookies with him and Dick.
  • Jason asked when Dick had learned about the plan, and Dick said he had overheard the youngsters plotting in the library.
  • Jason discovered that Dick and Tim had known about the plan from the start and that Alfred had picked up on something too.

Ch. 171Drake Manor

Jason scolded the others for underestimating Batman’s suspicions, while Miaomiao misunderstood his joke about Penguin and Bruce. The Bat Brats went to Tim’s Drake Manor to plan away from Wayne Manor, where Tim introduced them to Mrs. Mac.

  • Jason accused Dick and the others of assuming Bruce knew nothing about their secret plans, and Damian covered Miaomiao’s ears when Jason swore.
  • Miaomiao privately wondered whether Penguin was considered handsome by human standards, and Jason tapped her head to stop her strange speculation.
  • The Bat Brats decided not to return to Wayne Manor and went to Tim’s Drake Manor instead.
  • Tim introduced the group to Mrs. Mac, who had cared for him since he was young.

Ch. 172Dining room conference

Tim gathered the others at Drake Manor to discuss what to do with the amusement park that Jason had legally acquired. They rejected destroying it and agreed to clear out Joker’s traces and give the park new life.

  • Mrs. Mac welcomed Tim and the others, and Tim reassured Damian that she was a trusted member of the Drake Family.
  • Mrs. Mac said Tim seemed less tired with his friends around, and Jason, Dick, and Damian responded warmly while Miaomiao enjoyed the cookies.
  • Tim spread out a map showing the Ace Chemical Plant and Abandoned Amusement Park and explained that Jason had secured ownership of the park under the name Jason Peter.
  • Jason argued that they should blow up the park because of its hazards, but Miaomiao and Dick said destroying it would preserve Joker’s hold on Gotham’s memory.
  • Tim warned that explosives could endanger Gotham, and Dick proposed removing Joker’s remnants and bringing new life to the amusement park.

Ch. 173Two-Face, preparations

Tim, Damian, Dick, Jason, and Miaomiao planned renovations for Joker's Amusement Park and discussed how to handle the contaminated Ace Chemical Plant, which was connected to Two-Face. The group considered Two-Face's coin-based decisions a possible weakness and planned to take the coin without alerting Bruce.

  • Tim showed the group a satellite map and offered to bring friends to clear traps and Joker Venom from the Amusement Park.
  • Damian proposed demolishing the Carousel and Joker Tent, but Dick suggested repurposing them, and Tim agreed.
  • Tim explained that Wayne Enterprises had abandoned plans to buy the severely contaminated Ace Chemical Plant and that Janus's involvement raised concerns.
  • Tim described Harvey Apollo Dent's former role as Gotham's Bright Knight, and Miaomiao learned how much had changed before he became Two-Face.
  • Dick explained Two-Face's fixation on flipping his coin and the number two, and Damian and Jason proposed stealing the coin when Bruce would not notice.

Ch. 174Two-Face

Harvey Dent, now Two-Face, left City Hall after securing his release and used his coin to decide whether to punish a frightened henchman. On the way back to his apartment, he learned that Killer Croc had helped Batman capture Scarecrow and became intrigued by the report.

  • Harvey left City Hall and made his henchman face his disfigured appearance before flipping his double-headed coin to determine the man's fate.
  • The coin landed on its smooth side, and Harvey spared the henchman and headed for his car.
  • Harvey recalled how acid had disfigured him and how the coin toss had marked his transformation from Gotham's Bright Knight into Two-Face.
  • Harvey asked where Manny and Moe were and learned they were handling fallout from his agreement with Penguin.
  • The henchman reported that Killer Croc had knocked Scarecrow unconscious and that Batman had not arrested Croc, prompting Harvey's interest.

Ch. 175First meeting at the apartment

Harvey Dent brooded over his ruined friendship with Bruce Wayne before discovering Miaomiao had entered his apartment. He confronted her and threatened to let his coin decide whether she would leave alive.

  • Harvey remembered his past with Bruce and blamed him for failing to prevent the acid attack that turned him into Two-Face.
  • Harvey noticed that an ornament in his apartment was misaligned and realized someone had entered.
  • Miaomiao revealed herself and introduced herself to Harvey as Quan Ke, explaining that she was not Robin.
  • Harvey mocked Batman for bringing children into Gotham's violence, then threatened Miaomiao with his coin.
