Arc 17Dementors and the Diadem

William and Hermione traveled back in time to stop a Dementor invasion of Hogwarts and discovered that a Dementor had taken Ravenclaw’s Diadem, which contained a piece of Voldemort’s soul. They destroyed the soul fragment while preserving the Diadem, and learned of three other Horcrux clues.

  • William mourned Norbert with Hagrid, then captured and released Fire Kiss after learning she was Ronan’s sister and had been testing him.
  • William discovered that Sanmao had broken Dahei’s cage lock, rebuilt Ravenclaw’s Quidditch team, and began preparing for the season.
  • William and Hermione met MACUSA Auror Mera Picquery, who sought the Thunderbird and help for Newt, while Hermione, Ginny, and Luna were caught sneaking into Hogsmeade.
  • After Snape imprisoned Ron for selling photographs of him, Dementors invaded Hogwarts, and Dumbledore sent William and Hermione back in time to stop them.
  • William and Hermione lured most of the Dementors into a hidden room, but one found a rusty diadem and another Dementor put it on.
  • The diadem-wearing Dementor claimed to embody Ravenclaw’s will, then Voldemort appeared through it and fought William and Hermione.
  • William destroyed the giant Dementor with flaming Patronuses, then sent Little Black Robe to consume the soul fragment inside the Diadem.
  • The Dementor recalled Voldemort’s diary, Slytherin’s Ring, and the Gaunt Shack when William asked about the other Horcruxes.

Ch. 404Young Lady, I Can See You Have Extraordinary Potential

William mistook Fire Kiss, Ronan’s sister, for a hostile Centaur before learning she had come to trade. After completing the exchange, he tried to sell her Professor Lockhart’s books as a magical manual.

  • Fire Kiss explained that she had only been aiming at wind chimes and had wanted to test William, so he released her.

Ch. 405You Smell of Thunderbird

William sold books and a ring to Fire Kiss, a young Centaur who wanted magic for fighting dangerous creatures, before she asked to join his trip to the Acromantulas' territory. Anne gave Fire Kiss wind chimes, and Fire Kiss noticed that Anne smelled of Thunderbird; William left Fire Kiss hanging in a silk trap as he drove away.

  • William tried to sell Lockhart's books to Fire Kiss, but she dismissed his advice about Trolls, werewolves, and pests and asked for ways to deal with dangerous creatures.

Ch. 406Dahei Was Eaten by Fluffy!

William, Hermione, and Anne searched the valley after Anne reported that Fluffy had eaten Dahei, but William discovered the bones belonged to a Mooncalf. He concluded Dahei had escaped after Fluffy’s left head, Sanmao, secretly broke the cage lock and let him out.

  • William explained to Hermione that he had brought her and Anne to the Centaurs’ valley without Fire Kiss to avoid trouble with her tribe.
  • Anne ran back to William and Hermione in a panic, claiming Fluffy had eaten Dahei.
  • William found a broken cage lock and a clean-picked skeleton beside Fluffy, but identified the remains as a Mooncalf’s rather than Dahei’s.
  • William inspected the lock’s tooth marks and accused Fluffy’s three heads of freeing Dahei.
  • Fluffy’s middle and right heads glanced toward Sanmao, and Sanmao’s guilty expression revealed that he had broken the lock.

Ch. 407An Ancient Bloodline's Suppression

Hagrid's classes deteriorated after Dahei disappeared, while Snape grew furious over budget cuts and rumors about photographs of him dressed as a woman. William rebuilt Ravenclaw's Quidditch team around speed and prepared for its rivals as Halloween approached.

  • Dahei disappeared, and Hagrid blamed himself after trying to feed him Rock Cakes and canned herring.
  • Hagrid's students cleaned Horklump-infested cauldrons instead of destroying the creatures, and one Horklump damaged McLaggen's wand.
  • Professor McGonagall revealed that she had recovered the cauldrons for Potions Class, prompting Snape to complain about her budget cuts and investigate the sellers of photographs of him in women's clothes.
  • William rebuilt Ravenclaw's Quidditch team and trained them to use fast transitions and attacks.
  • Wood pushed Gryffindor's team through harsh training and demanded that Harry gain weight, while William considered Hufflepuff and Gryffindor Ravenclaw's main rivals.
  • William trusted Cho Chang to outmatch Cedric and Harry as Seekers, and Halloween arrived.

Ch. 408Odd Luna

William gave his Ancient Runes class Hogsmeade advice, demonstrated an offensive rune in a Wizard’s Chess guard, and assigned an essay. Later, Luna told him she had something to share but could not reveal it because she had promised to keep it secret.

  • William warned the class away from Madam Puddifoot’s Tea Shop, joked about dating, and rejected Daphne’s invitation because he already had a date.
  • William demonstrated how the Algiz rune increased a Wizard’s Chess guard’s offensive power and assigned an essay on offensive Ancient Runes.
  • Hermione followed William after class, discussed her heavy homework load, and agreed that they would study in the Room of Requirement again that night.

  • Filch checked students’ names as they left for Hogsmeade, and William and Hermione rode there in a Thestral-drawn carriage.

Ch. 410What's So Interesting About That Lousy Hog's Head?

William and Hermione spent the morning in Hogsmeade, sampling Honeydukes sweets, visiting the post office, and spotting Fred leaving Zonko’s with Angelina. • William told Hermione that Dumbledore's Deluminator had been a gift for Ariana and that the professor suffered whenever he spoke of her.
  • Hermione wondered why Dumbledore and Aberforth were estranged, and William comforted her when she noticed the furrow in his brow.
  • Mera Picquery identified herself as a MACUSA Auror and tried to question William in Britain.
  • William refused, citing his Wizengamot authority, and Hermione challenged Picquery for conducting law enforcement without proper registration or British Aurors.
  • Picquery said she had come because a dark wizard had stolen something belonging to Mr. Scamander during an attack on MACUSA, and the Scourers were suspected.

Ch. 413Hufflepuffs Are Secretly Passionate!

William told Picquery that the Thunderbird had escaped and was no longer in the Forbidden Forest, then refused to help her contact the Centaurs. As William and Hermione left, Picquery asked about Professor Targaryen, and they spotted Anne, Luna, and Ginny with ice cream and snacks.

  • Picquery explained that the Magical Congress suspected the Scourers had taken the Thunderbird, and asked William to help locate it.
  • William told Picquery the Thunderbird had escaped from Newt, attacked the Hogwarts Express, and later left the Forbidden Forest; he refused to take her to Fire Kiss.

  • Hermione spotted Anne, Luna, and Ginny leaving an ice cream shop, and the three girls ran when William called out to Anne.

Ch. 414Dumbledore's fishing plan

Anne, Ginny, and Luna fled William and Hermione into the Shrieking Shack, where William caught them with a magical trap. After learning they had used a secret passage to reach Hogsmeade, William suspected Dumbledore had deliberately left that route open as bait for Black or as part of another test.

  • Anne, Ginny, and Luna hid near the Shrieking Shack with their bags of snacks and debated whether to explore it.
  • A ghost-fire skull startled the girls, and Anne tried a spell before the flames transformed into ropes that bound and hoisted them into a tree.
  • William and Hermione appeared, and William teased the girls about sneaking into Hogsmeade before Hermione helped secure their snacks and William lowered them.
  • Ginny claimed they had flown to Hogsmeade, but William guessed George had told them about a secret passage.
  • William reasoned that the girls had likely used the passage from the one-eyed witch statue and wondered whether Dumbledore had left it open to lure Black into Hogwarts or to test The Boy Who Lived.

  • William explained that Dumbledore had called the students back because Dementors had entered Hogwarts and the students needed warning.
  • William and Hermione emerged from the passage and went to Professor Lupin’s office, where William promised there was a good show to see.

Ch. 419Are These Photos Authentic? (First Release!)

William and Hermione went to the Slytherin dungeon, where they witnessed Ron selling glamour photos and learned that Peeves had been plotting against the Slytherins.
