Background
Li Er transmigrates into the Primordial World as a vulnerable mortal and arrives on Golden Turtle Island amid creatures seeking admission to Jie Sect. Fearing that the surrounding demons may eat him, he resolves to become Sect Master Tongtian's disciple as a matter of survival 1 5.
His transmigration is tied to a mysterious bead within his dantian. Entering the bead's internal world causes his consciousness to condense into a Primordial Spirit and awakens his Golden Core, though his abnormal core proves extraordinarily difficult to advance through ordinary cultivation resources 3 6 11.
He initially believes Sect Master Tongtian to be the sword cultivator “Pan Laosan,” who protects him, provides him with resources, and conceals his existence. Li Er becomes an inner disciple of Jie Sect but consistently avoids prominent positions, believing that survival and caution matter more than prestige 10 11.
Personality
Li Er is intensely cautious and survival-oriented. He avoids famous figures, tries not to meddle in dangerous affairs, and repeatedly frames his goals around living long enough to secure his future. The more urgent a situation becomes, the more deliberately he analyzes it 7 9.
Despite considering himself weak, he is inventive, observant, and unusually practical. He adapts ideas from his former life into sect administration, contribution systems, trial methods, formation design, and cultivation techniques. He is also willing to discard an approach when its cost, risk, or resource demands outweigh its benefits 7 9 11.
Li Er is loyal to those who have treated him sincerely. Although afraid of death, he refuses to abandon Pan Laosan after learning that he is trapped in a dangerous world, considering such abandonment incompatible with his principles 10 131.
His teaching style combines strict standards with experimentation. He tests disciples through immersive formations, harsh lightning training, and practical trials, but tailors instruction to their temperament and chosen path 17 24 35.
Abilities & Skills
Great Dao Golden Core and Physical Body
Li Er's body and Golden Core are anomalous products of the Chaos Orb's fusion with his Primordial Spirit and flesh. His cultivation does not follow ordinary breakthroughs, but steadily incorporates laws and resources into a world-forming Golden Core 54 161.
- His body is immune to external law inscriptions; attempts to carve formations onto his surface cause explosions instead 16.
- He can engrave divine patterns into his bones, acupoints, meridians, and internal organs 16.
- He possesses exceptional physical strength, including breaking a piece from Treasure Distribution Cliff by hand 18.
- His physical body later reaches the level of physical sanctification 62.
Formations and Divine Patterns
Li Er is a formation innovator who treats arrays as modular, stackable systems rather than fixed constructs.
- Developed a bewilderment formation that can imitate the aura of a stronger cultivator, though it is exposed once the user acts 15.
- Creates array disks with layers counted in the tens of millions and uses them to construct large-scale formations 16.
- Uses mirroring formations to copy an opponent's moves, spells, and divine abilities during combat trials 17.
- Creates immersive examination spaces to test disciples' temperament, knowledge, and resolve 17 24 47.
- Refined the Primordial Blood God Formation with Lingbao Tianzun, converting baleful aura into pure essence blood 87.
Lightning and Five Elements Techniques
Li Er cultivates and applies elemental techniques alongside his formation work.
- Can cast simple Five Elements divine abilities with precise control 11.
- Uses Purple Firmament Divine Lightning in combat and to temper disciples' Primordial Spirits 35 36.
- Combines Purple Firmament Divine Lightning with Red Lotus Karmic Fire during his duel with Tongtian 36.
- Studies Innate Five Elements Divine Markings through Kong Xuan's egg 27.
Cultivation-Method Development
Li Er develops unconventional paths suited to disciples whose cultivation needs differ from standard methods.
- Selected the Sword Sutra, Supreme Emotionless Scripture, and Nine-Nine Mystic Art as his initial cultivation references 9.
- Created the Sword Codex and Saber Codex, methods capable of guiding suitable cultivators toward the Golden Immortal realm 47.
- Uses the Supreme Emotionless Scripture and illusion training to cultivate steadiness and resistance to mental disturbance 9 24.
- Treats Golden Core cultivation as a foundation that can be forged into weapons, laws, or eventually a world 46 54.
Artifact Refinement and Creation
Li Er applies his understanding of formations, laws, and divine patterns to refining treasures and living creations.
- Refined Treasure Distribution Cliff into the sentient Black Dog, a being capable of crossing void and concealing itself from the Heavenly Dao 20.
- Can rapidly refine powerful treasures, including the Qingping Sword and the Chaos Bell's innate restrictions 14 34.
- Modified the Bagua Furnace to refine Lingbao Tianzun and stabilize the excessive power of time within him 96.
- Encapsulated a high-quality Pangu replica inside an egg formed from Innate Sun and Moon Essence and spontaneous divine patterns 93.
Calculation and World Creation
Li Er applies deduction tools and law-comprehension to large-scale cosmological problems.
- Designed the solution that established the Primordial World's rotation of time and stabilized the Taiyang and Taiyin sources 54.
- Created a simplified Taiji Super Processor for high-speed calculation and deduction 59.
- Comprehended the method of the Six Paths of Reincarnation, but declined to control the Earthly Dao himself and passed the opportunity to Houtu 126.
- Absorbed the Valley of the Sun as the foundation for the Three Realms, embedding three thousand fundamental laws into its development plan 146.
- Forms an inner world within himself and recognizes creation as the process of defining, testing, and realizing what does not yet exist 167.

- Grand Pure Saint and Yuanshi Tianzun — Tongtian's elder brothers, whom Li Er calls First Brother Pan and Second Brother Pan. They recognize his talent, consult him on cultivation, and place disciples under his instruction 45 46.
Story Role
Survival on Golden Turtle Island
Li Er begins as a mortal surrounded by hostile creatures and seeks Jie Sect membership purely to secure protection. His advice on sect rules, contribution systems, disciple recruitment, and the Trial of Heart helps reshape Jie Sect's development and earns Great Dao merit 1 7 9.
Founding Daoism
After identifying the dangers posed by Jie Sect's rapid growth, Li Er proposes establishing a hidden branch to preserve its teachings. He names it Daoism, becomes its deputy leader, and establishes its principle: education without discrimination combined with teaching according to aptitude 11 13.
Building a Disciple Lineage
Tongtian repeatedly brings disciples to Li Er, making him the effective instructor of Daoism's core members. Li Er develops tests, training methods, and specialized cultivation paths for Zhao Gongming, Duobao, Kong Xuan, Sixth Crow, Xuandu, and others 16 17 24 46 47.
Reshaping Primordial Laws
Li Er's designs influence the Primordial World's time cycle, the Six Paths of Reincarnation, the Earthly Dao, and the transformation of destructive formations into sources of life and essence blood 54 87 126.
Creation of the Three Realms
Li Er creates the Three Realms from the Valley of the Sun and intends it as an orderly arena for the Witch–Demon conflict and an Investiture of the Gods scenario. His plan allows different factions to contribute laws, divine patterns, and resources while gaining insight into the world's foundational structure 142 146 147.
Journey into the Dark Side
When Tongtian becomes trapped in a dangerous world beyond Mount Buzhou, Li Er abandons his usual avoidance of danger and enters the dark side of the Primordial World. There, chaotic laws enlarge his Golden Core, form world seeds, and ultimately lead him to comprehend creation through the inner world forming within him 131 161 167.
