Background / History

Zorya found Yuan as a child and raised him as her grandson in an isolated village of the Barren Star System. She named him “Yuan” after recalling that the character had once been described to her as powerful. He grew into a well-behaved and filial but mischievous boy, preferring scarce books to the company of village children. 1 2

At thirteen, Yuan was selected for Kingdom conscription because he was the village’s only child of the required age. He was sent to a mine where laborers extracted high-purity radioactive ore under lethal conditions. 3 4 5

During the mine uprising and subsequent massacre, Yuan was exposed to the ore’s radiation. The Taotie recovered him as a severely damaged Divine River Body; conventional treatment failed, but the radiation, Dark Energy, and massive external energy input triggered his transformation. 7 8 9

After awakening aboard the Taotie warship, Yuan attempted to return home. He found his village lifeless and Zorya dead, then engraved “Unfilial Grandson: Yuan” on her tombstone before leaving the Styx Galaxy. 12 13

Despite his guarded nature, Yuan is not indifferent to those who follow him. He values Bruis’s judgment, protects the surviving Taotie by renaming them the Holy Spirit Clan, and personally entombs the Taotie dead on Dobilun Star. 22 47 48
