|---|---|---|
| Level 2 Apprentice | 3571 | Her Dream Setting could grant only abilities below Second-level Cantrips, limited by her own level and understanding. |
Background
Blanche was a lively child until, around age five, she developed what doctors diagnosed as hypersomnia. She required several more hours of sleep than other children; by age nine, she could sleep continuously for two days and could not wake herself even from hunger or thirst. Her parents traveled throughout the Great Serman Empire seeking treatment and eventually obtained a mechanical bed that woke her on a schedule. 3568
A Witch Apprentice of the Radiant Church found no illness through magical examination. Blanche instead explained that she remained conscious in lucid dreams and enjoyed sleeping. A Mental Power test measured 21 points—well above the Talent User qualification line of 10—and her Talent Ball manifestation revealed dream personas visible only to her. She was consequently identified as a Dream Talent User, joined the Radiant Church, and became Camillo's apprentice. 3568
Becoming a Transcendent worsened her hypersomnia: external stimulation ceased to wake her, even severe injury would not rouse her, and Camillo had to enter her dreams to awaken her. As her talent strengthened, the difficulty of waking her continued to rise. 3568
Blanche later entered the Uriel Wonderland Instance through Dream Setting with Camillo, Moon Lady, Mr. Sun, and Jùanjuan. Although she initially lacked the provisional-identity tasks assigned to the others, this ultimately reflected the Wonderland Authority's preferential recognition of her; she possessed a legitimate identity and could remain in the Dream Crystal Plain. 3571 3582 4355
Appearance
Blanche is a slight, young-looking sixteen-year-old girl whose appearance can make her seem eleven or twelve years old. 3570
- Short and thin, under 1.6 meters tall. 3570
- Deep blue hair and a fair, delicate face. 3570
- Often wears white clothing, including a pure white dress or pajamas. 3568 3570
- Wears white plush cat-paw socks instead of shoes. 3570
- Her appearance changes substantially when she performs a chosen persona in a Dream Design. 4403
Personality
Blanche is shy, introverted, and uncomfortable with sustained public attention. She tends to position herself behind Camillo, becomes visibly flustered when watched, and feels most relaxed when others leave her in the background. 3581 3582 3583
She is imaginative and deeply committed to role-playing. Her dream personas range from princesses, knights, detectives, and bodyguards to ordinary workers; she may remain in character so intensely that she needs to consciously re-establish a persona after mixing roles. 4359 4372
Despite her reticence, Blanche is curious, resourceful, and protective of companions. She investigates unfamiliar dream environments, searches for missing allies, and pushed her Dream Design talent beyond its limits to help Ligota. 4427 4428 4409 4410
Abilities & Skills
Dream Setting
Blanche imagines a persona and story before sleeping, then becomes that persona within her dream. The resulting dream power is real enough within the dream to endanger a formal witch. 3569
- Can construct detailed dream worlds, stories, roles, and supporting characters. 3571 4403
- Can gain powers appropriate to a setting within the dream; Camillo could not nullify powers granted by her fairy-tale persona. 3569
- Cannot bring extraordinary dream powers back into reality. 3569
- Her settings are constrained by her level, knowledge, and imagination; unsupported powerful abilities do not function merely because they are written into a setting. 3571
- At Level 2 Apprentice, she could grant no more than abilities below Second-level Cantrips. 3571
Dream Invasion and Shared Dreams
Blanche can weave herself and others into a target's dream through a self-consistent setting. 3569
- Can set a meeting with a specific person and enter that person's dream. 3569
- Can replace a target's dream with her own Dream Setting and potentially control it. 3569
- Can assign others protagonist roles, allowing them to participate in her dream. 3569
- Used Dream Setting to lead the group into Glaimo's dream and toward the Other Dream. 3571 3572
Persona Nourishment
Blanche can retain real-world skills acquired through the personas of ordinary people. 3569
- A three-day dream as a wandering painter gave her painting ability despite having no prior experience. 3569
- Can similarly develop practical skills such as blacksmithing, tailoring, or artistry. 3569
- Cannot currently gain extraordinary abilities or rapid power advancement through this nourishment. 3569
- Can include another person as a co-protagonist, potentially training them through a shared ordinary-person dream. 3569
Dream Design
Blanche creates structured Dream Design realms from stories and dream power. 4403
- Her Dream Designs can transform participants according to assigned story roles. 4403
- She sets only a broad framework; dream power's self-consistency can develop subsequent events autonomously. 4394
- Properly developing Dream Designs can slow the progression of her hypersomnia. 4404
- Constructing a Dream Design under extreme conditions causes her real body pain and can push her talent to its limit. 4410
- She used collected “beautiful dreams” to attempt a Dream Design that could cross a stagnant zone. 4409
Dream-Bubble Handling
In Dawn's Dream, Blanche developed an efficient way to resolve dream bubbles by frightening dream visitors toward the exit rather than conventionally guiding them. 4437
- Uses staged threats, such as ominous footsteps and a headless white figure, to drive visitors out. 4437
- Her method is fast but unconventional and relies on her judgment as a Dream System Witch. 4437
Limitations and Risks
- Blanche's hypersomnia grows more severe as her talent strengthens; ordinary external waking methods no longer work. 3568
- Camillo can currently wake her via Dream Entering Technique, but fears this may eventually become insufficient. 3568
- Her growing Dream Core accumulates Power of Dream while she remains in her own dreams. 3588
- Using or accumulating excessive Power of Dream may cause mental rigidity, freezing her self-awareness and potentially making her lose herself. 3588
- Her talent is considered close to Mysterious Power; Jùanjuan believes fully awakened Mysterious Talent Users rarely escape death. 3570 3578
Equipment / Items
- Snow Owl's Wardrobe — A Wonderland reward that remotely changes outfits and accessories placed inside it; it can also transfer weapons and Wonderland Items. Blanche values it chiefly as a costume library for switching personas mid-instance. 4384
- Lianlian — Used by Blanche to search Dawn's Dream for other anchors and golden pillars. 4428 4429
- Love-Love Woodpecker — Blanche used its Heart Reflection ability while embodying the persona “Vavassily.” 4390
Relationships
- Camillo — Teacher and guardian. He discovered how to wake Blanche through Dream Entering, consistently protects her, and was willing to surrender his own Temporary Resident opportunity for her safety. 3568 3588
- Jùanjuan — Friend. The black cat probes Blanche's dense Dream System energy, pities her condition, and explicitly calls itself her friend. 3570
- Angel — Ally in the Dream Crystal Plain. He recognizes the value and danger of her talent, offers her a crow skin for the Love-Love Woodpecker, and later entrusts her with inscription authorization. 3582 4390 4398
- Luigi — Fellow Wonderland participant. He learns of the danger of her Mysterious Talent and helps Blanche understand that she may remain in the Instance. 3578 3588
- Uriel — Ally and fellow role-player. He accepts Blanche's changing personas and asks her to help bring Ligota's living soul into the Dream Crystal Plain. 4359 4401
- Ligota — Companion Blanche seeks to help by creating a Dream Design that can traverse the Dream Realm Passage. 4403
- Moon Lady and Mr. Sun — Legendary witches whom Blanche initially approaches with shyness and respect; they recognize the unusual nature of her talent. 3570 3578
Story Role / Major Arcs
Glaimo's Dream and the Other Dream
Camillo proposes Blanche as the means to enter Glaimo's inaccessible dream. She completes a Dream Setting that includes the group, creates the “Great Other Dream Adventure,” and leads the party along a revealed path into the Other Dream. 3568 3569 3571 3572
Uriel Wonderland and Long-Term Anchoring
Blanche's entry causes the Wonderland Authority to update and designate her for “long-term anchoring” in the Dream Crystal Plain. Although she is unaware that the Authority seeks to exploit her Mysterious Talent, she chooses to stay because Wonderland slows the dangerous accumulation of Dream Power in her Dream Core. 3582 3588 4424
Misty Swamp Forest
Blanche joins the exploration of the Misty Swamp Forest Instance, taking on a detective persona after discovering that her intended bodyguard role is unhelpful. She receives Snow Owl's Wardrobe after the Instance's perfect clearance. 4359 4384
Dream Design Land and the Stagnant Zone
To help Ligota, Blanche creates Dream Design Land around a revenge-drama story, then attempts to form another Dream Design to cross a growing stagnant zone. The effort causes her physical pain but demonstrates her determination to continue. 4403 4409 4410
Dawn's Dream
Separated by mist into Dawn City, Blanche identifies the Sinking Dream Pillar and investigates Dawn's Dream. She reunites with Shi En and other allies, uses Lianlian to search for anchors, and helps develop methods for resolving dream bubbles and earning Dawn Points. 4427 4428 4429 4437
Trivia
- Blanche's Talent Ball manifestation produced dream personas that only she could see. 3568
- She prefers stories in which an ordinary persona gradually succeeds, because she finds overwhelmingly powerful characters difficult to understand and continue writing. 3569
- She enjoys revenge dramas because their simple, illogical resolutions let her act without maintaining complex details. 4403 4404
- Blanche keeps some personal interests hidden from Camillo, including romance novels he dismisses as “yellow trash.” 4417
