Background

Moon Dew has lived in the Witch's Cottage for as long as she can remember. She does not know where she was born, has never lived in reality, and possesses no known physical body there. She knows of the Deep Dream Civilization but cannot confirm whether she originates from it. Angel later reasons that she is probably not from Deep Dream, as the Flower Moon Fairies appear to have witnessed her entire life. 4447 4489

Her mother, Moon Bell, left the cottage long ago and has not returned. Moon Dew believes Moon Bell may never come back, though she remembers that her mother periodically left for one or two days each month and may have been searching for a path to the real world. The Flower Moon Fairies describe Moon Bell as having been exiled by the Dream Realm to an unknown location whose coordinates cannot presently be locked onto. 4447 4473 4444

Moon Dew and Moon Bell are Thorn Rose Witches whose existence is closely tied to the Flower Moon Fairies. The fairies regularly visited the cottage to tell stories and harvest dream flowers for brewing Moon God Mead; Moon Dew considers them kind “fairy sisters.” Moon Dew has stated that the roots of the Thorn Rose Witches' existence are connected to the Flower Moon Fairies, making their longstanding cooperation difficult to sever. 4444 4446 4469

The Witch's Cottage is a stable fairy-tale dream. As a child living alone there after Moon Bell's disappearance, Moon Dew used dream power to maintain comforting background noises such as rain, wind, and voices, easing the loneliness of the otherwise silent cottage. 4470 4517

Before meeting Angel, Moon Dew remained in the cottage because she feared dream beasts and the dangers of entering other dreams. Angel's illusionary retelling of The Witch's Delivery Service inspired her to leave home and experience a world beyond the cottage. 4445 4446 4447

Appearance

Moon Dew resembles a young human girl, with a witch-like appearance and a distinctive mark on her forehead. 4444 4471

  • Snowy-white crescent-moon mark between her brows.
  • Silver-gold, shoulder-length hair worn in a side ponytail.
  • Blue-black dress.
  • Chubby cheeks and childlike features.
  • Often rides a floating flying broom.
  • Carries a red crossbody bag and a dream-eating-tapir-patterned handbag. 4471
  • Has recently shown an interest in fashionable clothing, particularly Cocorosa's luxurious silver-gray fur cloak. 4535

Personality

Moon Dew is innocent, curious, and emotionally open. Having spent most of her life in isolation, she is fascinated by cities, travel, stories, and unfamiliar sights, while remaining wary of dream beasts and malicious strangers. 4445 4446

She is affectionate toward Angel, whom she calls “Big Brother,” and quickly comes to see him as a storyteller, guide, and trusted protector. Her trust is partly reinforced by Moon Bell's crystal ball, which detects nearby malice and never darkened in Angel's presence. 4447

Moon Dew is also determined beneath her gentle demeanor. She wants to become “a qualified little witch,” find her mother, and eventually reach reality—the destination the Thorn Rose Witches believe they were originally meant to reach. 4467 4473

Her experiences in Dawn's Dream have made her more talkative, hopeful, and eager to grow independently. However, her self-reliance can become excessive: she feels guilty when others help her and initially believes she must personally earn enough Dawn Points to solve every Flower Moon Fairy's problems. 4484 4492 4537

Moon Dew is notably compassionate toward Dream Visitors. Even after a parasitized boy deceived and attacked her, she did not blame him for actions influenced by a Heart Demon Dream Embryo and resolved to help address the source of his suffering in reality once she can do so. 4526

Abilities & Skills

Dream Power Manipulation

Moon Dew can directly gather and control dream mist, a capability Angel identifies as highly unusual among Dawn's Dream participants. 4449

  • Manipulates dream power without receiving a reconstructed Dream Crystal Plain body.
  • Uses dream power to enter, influence, and guide dream bubbles.
  • Can lower a dreamer's lucidity through dream power, making guidance easier. 4473 4483
  • Her influence is especially effective inside Dawn's Dream, which functions as a relative safe zone for her. 4468
  • Can form defensive barriers and restraining cages from dream power. 4526
  • Can precisely remove a Heart Demon Dream Embryo from a parasitized Dream Visitor, dispersing its manifested Dream Beast body without harming herself. 4526

Dreamer Guidance

After learning from Angel and other Anchor Managers, Moon Dew quickly became capable of guiding Dreamers out of dream bubbles. 4473

  • Cleared her first small dream bubble in under three minutes.
  • Used humming infused with dream power to soothe an exhausted student and guide her out. 4473
  • Subsequently cleared a medium-sized dream bubble and began attempting large dream bubbles. 4483
  • Reduced a battle-oriented Dream Guest's lucidity from nearly Level 5 to Level 1, allowing her to guide him out without a prolonged fight. 4483
  • Has begun independently entering Dream Bubbles to gain varied experience rather than only pursuing the largest available rewards. 4492
  • Uses empathy and role-playing as guidance methods, once helping a nervous prospective teacher practice teaching by acting as her student. 4485

Dream-Beast Knowledge

Moon Dew possesses practical knowledge of Dream Beasts and their relationship with dream power. 4476 4480

  • Understands that Dream Beasts normally grow slowly by passively absorbing dream power, while accelerated dream-power gathering can greatly hasten their growth. 4480
  • Warned Angel that rare rule-based or parasitic Dream Beasts can be exceptionally dangerous despite the general weakness of ordinary native Dream Beasts. 4483
  • Recognizes Heart Demon Dream Embryos and understands that they can parasitize Dream Visitors and transform them into Heart Demon Dream Beasts. 4526

Thorn Rose Cultivation

As a Thorn Rose Witch, Moon Dew cultivates dream flowers whose type depends on her state before sleep, during dreams, or upon waking. 4469

  • Can produce Drunken Thorn Rose while on the verge of sleep.
  • Drunken Thorn Rose can be prepared by a Food Wizard into dream honey with resistance to the sense of time. 4450
  • Cultivating Drunken Thorn Rose places only a negligible burden on her because the Witch's Cottage bears most of the cost. 4470
  • Is still too young to cultivate Dream-Refining Thorn Rose or Dream-Shattering Thorn Rose. 4470
  • Provides Drunken Thorn Roses to Juanjuan only on rest days agreed upon between Moon Bell and the Flower Moon Fairies; she refuses to be exploited through constant cultivation. 4472

Return to Witch's Cottage

Following her Dream Registry, Moon Dew can leave Dawn's Dream and return to the Witch's Cottage at will. 4467 4468

  • Her homeward transition appears as her body fading beneath water-like ripples.
  • This ability gives her a potential escape route from danger within Dawn's Dream.
  • She cannot currently leave Dawn's Dream for other instances or enter Dream Crystal Plain. 4468
  • She can use Angel's Cyclone communication construct to contact him across Dawn's Dream and the Witch's Cottage. 4492 4519

Dream Registry

Angel granted Moon Dew a Dream Registry badge, making her an official identity within Dawn's Dream. 4467

  • May independently choose to enter Dawn's Dream at any time.
  • May remain in Dawn's Dream indefinitely if she wishes.
  • Can tackle dream bubbles and earn Dawn Points. 4467
  • Her body is not reconstructed; death outside her safe circumstances would be a true death rather than triggering a compensation mechanism. 4468
  • She is actively saving Dawn Points for the Dream Trapping Authority, which she believes may eventually allow her to visit reality and pursue clues concerning Moon Bell. 4473 4492

Equipment / Items

  • Flying Broom “Charge!” — A dream-power vehicle made by Moon Bell. Its known skills include Floating Dream and Message; riding it calms Moon Dew and helps ease her troubles. 4469
  • Dream-eating-tapir handbag — A spatial dream item capable of holding numerous objects without expanding. 4447 4448
  • Crystal ball — Left by Moon Bell; turns pitch-black when nearby malice is directed toward Moon Dew. 4447
  • Drunken Thorn Rose — A special dream plant born from Moon Dew near sleep and usable in dream-honey production. 4450
  • Moon Bell's diary — A diary retrieved from the Witch's Cottage that contains information about Moon Bell's past and the cottage's abilities. 4487
  • Iron box — A mysterious box found with Moon Bell's diary. Moon Dew asked Angel to help open and investigate it, but its nature remains unknown. 4487 4492

Relationships

  • Angel — Storyteller, mentor, and trusted “Big Brother.” He brought Moon Dew out of the Witch's Cottage, registered her in Dawn's Dream, promised to help search for Moon Bell, and supports her independence without forcing her to shoulder adult responsibilities alone. 4445 4467 4470 4492 4537
  • Moon Bell — Mother and previous-generation Thorn Rose Witch. Her prolonged absence drives Moon Dew's wish to explore and find traces of her. Moon Dew's diary and iron box have become potential sources of information about her past. 4447 4473 4487
  • Flower Moon Fairies — Long-term collaborators with Moon Dew and Moon Bell. They tell Moon Dew stories, cultivate dream flowers through the Witch's Cottage, and are closely tied to the witches' continued existence. They have begun entering Dawn's Dream, allowing Moon Dew to reconnect with her fairy sisters directly. 4444 4469 4523
  • Granny Tang — An elder Flower Moon Fairy who is protective of Moon Dew and knew Moon Bell's loneliness and struggles. She supports Moon Dew's chance to grow in Dawn's Dream and insists that Moon Dew should not bear the burden of helping every fairy alone. 4519 4520 4537
  • Niv — A young Flower Moon Fairy who knows Moon Dew's name but initially has low wakefulness in Dawn's Dream. Moon Dew regards her with protective affection, like a younger sister. 4527
  • Cocorosa — A Flower Moon Fairy and talented chef whom Moon Dew calls “Sister Cocorosa.” Cocorosa bonds with Moon Dew over clothing and is preparing a grand feast around Moon Dew's wish for everyone to feel happy. 4534 4535 4536
  • Juanjuan — Angel's friend who seeks Drunken Thorn Roses. Moon Dew agrees to provide roses occasionally but refuses a long-term supply arrangement. Juanjuan later becomes involved in discussions about the Flower Moon Fairies discovering Dawn's Dream. 4470 4471 4484 4485
  • Other Anchor Managers — Moon Dew learns Dreamer-guidance methods from figures such as Blanche, Shi En, and Uriel. 4473
  • Dream Visitors — Moon Dew increasingly regards the Dreamers she guides as people with whom she has formed a connection, rather than merely a source of Dawn Points. 4526

Trivia

  • Moon Dew originally disliked fairy tales, but Angel's interactive story was the first one she truly became immersed in. 4445 4447
  • She initially viewed Dawn's Dream as full of “holes” connected to the Sea Beyond Dreams. 4449

  • Her experiences in Dawn's Dream noticeably make her more talkative, excitable, and hopeful than when Angel first met her. 4484
  • Moon Dew has a stronger interest in horror stories than conventional fairy tales, partly because she associates them with “grown-up” stories. 4534
