Background / History

Chen Xinjie was one of the Douluo Continent's three peak quasi-gods, alongside Federation Council Chairman Chen Yu and Shrek Academy's Sea God Pavilion Master Yun Ming. He served as Hall Master of the Federation-aligned War God Temple and led the Sea God Family. 1 25 49

Over forty years before his death, Chen Xinjie commanded the Tianhai Legion. As head of the Sea God Family, he sought to rename the Federation force the Sea God Legion, presenting the request as a tribute to the Sea God. Chen Yu refused, removed him from command, and purged military officers whose loyalties lay outside the Federation. Chen Xinjie retained this grievance for decades. 25 26

He had a long romantic history with Long Yeyue. After Chen Yu killed her with a distant spear strike, Chen Xinjie treated the event as a blood feud and joined Yun Ming's plan against Chen Yu. 12 25

His hostility toward Chen Yu was driven by personal resentment over his removal from the Tianhai Legion and by Long Yeyue's death. Chen Xinjie arrived outside Tianhai City with tens of thousands of sea soul beasts, intending to take revenge on Chen Yu and support Shrek Academy's resistance. He confronted the Tianhai, Donghai, and Beihai naval forces, expecting them to yield. 25 27

The three fleets instead launched a sustained artillery barrage. Chen Xinjie endured through his oceanic replenishment before deploying the Sea God Helmet to incapacitate the fleets' ability to fire accurately. 27 28

Defeat and Capture

Chen Yu appeared over the sea despite simultaneously confronting Yun Ming elsewhere, later revealed to be possible through an avatar technique. Chen Xinjie attempted to justify his alliance with Shrek Academy, but Chen Yu defeated him with one punch. 29 31

Federation officers restrained the unconscious Chen Xinjie with specialized limiters and kept him alive for a public trial rather than executing him immediately. 30

Trial and Execution

Chen Xinjie was tried before the entire Federation on charges including treason, abuse of power, collusion with outside forces, attempted misappropriation of military resources, and diverting Federation resources to his family. 41
