Chen Yu was born into extreme poverty, an orphan from a slum with no background or connections. From a young age, he relied solely on his fists and relentless determination to survive and climb the social ladder in the Sun Moon Federation. His martial soul was his own body, granting him extraordinary physical resilience—his body was as hard as a four-word battle armor, making him virtually immune to blades and conventional attacks. This unique martial soul, combined with his unyielding will, allowed him to rise from destitution to become a publicly recognized peak quasi-god, one of only three such beings on the Douluo Continent at the time alongside Sky-Propping Douluo Yun Ming and Vast Sea Douluo Chen Xinjie 1 6 7 8 26.

His early struggles shaped his worldview and political philosophy. He had to fight for every resource, and he developed a deep disdain for hereditary privilege and entrenched aristocratic power. Chen Yu eventually became Commander Huang’s disciple. Commander Huang was an elder-generation leader of the Body Sect, making Chen Yu a senior brother to the sect’s disciples, including Hu Jie. When he later entered the contest for Federation Council Chairman, he transferred the sect leadership to Mu Ye 190.

Unknown to the wider continent, Chen Yu discovered a broken plane in his youth. By refining this damaged world and exploiting resources beyond the Douluo Plane, he established the foundation for a cultivation path independent of the conventional martial soul, soul ring, and soul skill system 124. This hidden extraterrestrial foundation later supported both his godhood and the Federation’s advanced soul-tool research 124 125.

More than forty years before the events of his confrontation with Shrek Academy, he had only just become Speaker. At that time, the Federation was unstable: the Eight Great Legions acted in their own interests, the major clans were deeply entrenched, and the three major powers—the Spirit Pagoda, Shrek Academy, and the War God Temple—were locked in open and secret struggles. The entire Douluo Continent was a powder keg 26.

Chen Yu consolidated power methodically, using a combination of raw force and political maneuvering. He purged turncoats from the military and refused to rename a Federation legion to the Sea God Legion, demonstrating his refusal to bow to traditional powers 26. He built a loyal following among the common-born soldiers and officers, such as Central Legion Commander Yu Guanzhi, a rank-99 Limit Douluo and three-star General who showed unwavering obedience 8 19 24. His support for the Body Sect also strengthened his military intelligence network. Its carefully selected disciples served throughout the Eight Great Legions and the Blood God Legion, acting as his eyes within the Federation’s nine legions even when their individual cultivation was not especially high 190.

For many years, Chen Yu secretly selected talented young people from across the Federation and sent them to cultivate within five of his minor planes. These worlds produced numerous Title Douluos and dozens of Limit Douluos, providing a reserve of loyal experts outside the publicly visible academy system. Their engagement began when Ya Li volunteered to marry him so that his dying master, Commander Huang, could see his disciple settled; she later affirmed that she wanted to remain with him 1 2.

Chen Yu cultivated desperately, vying for power and moving step by step with careful calculation from an orphan to the Federation Council Chairman. He ensured that Ya Li had enough resources to cultivate and replenish the vitality she lost when using her Prayer Angel power. He even borrowed the Yu Family’s divine artifact, Life Praise, to prevent the depletion of her life origin, and financed a massive annual propaganda effort that gathered faith power for her 1 2. He effectively held up the sky for her, allowing her to live freely without being oppressed by the weight of “Federation investment” 1.

However, the relationship soured as Ya Li came to take Chen Yu's unconditional support for granted. She treated his resources as her own entitlement, and when Chen Yu sensed that she had lost her way—prioritizing her own image and faith-gathering propaganda over genuine service—he grew disillusioned 4. The breaking point came when Ya Li told him she wished to end their engagement because Yun Ming could accompany her and make her feel alive in ways Chen Yu’s long seclusions could not 1. In response, Chen Yu decided to demand repayment of all the resources Ya Li had used over thirty years. His calculation showed that Ya Li's expenses—including rare treasures and a massive annual propaganda budget to promote her deeds and gather faith power—totaled more than two hundred years of Shrek Academy's savings 2 4 5.

He ordered Secretary-General Pan Wen to list every resource Ya Li had used since becoming his fiancée, and then sent his driver to refuse her service, revoked all her privileges by Federation approval—even intercepting her flight over Ming Capital with a squadron of mechs. Pan Wen delivered a stack of papers with the expenses to Yun Ming at Shrek Academy, demanding payment within a week 2 3 4 5.

Ya Li was hurt and betrayed by his action, but Chen Yu remained resolute. He saw her as a symbol of the privileges he wished to dismantle, and the broken engagement became the catalyst for his broader campaign against the old powers 1 2 34.

After losing her former privileges, Ya Li could no longer enter the Ming Capital Parliament Building without an appointment, despite guards recognizing her identity 58. When she attempted to force her way in, three Super Douluo in four-word battle armor and a mech squad intercepted her 59. Chen Yu’s removal of her faith-gathering statues, factories, propaganda, and related support also severed Yun Ming’s intended route to godhood through Ya Li’s faith power 56 58.

Chen Yu’s public-opinion campaign also demonstrated the danger of dependence on faith. Ya Li suffered faith backlash that reduced her from a level-99 Limit Douluo to a Spirit Scholar and left her severely injured and unconscious, frightening the Shrek elders with the possibility that a cultivated reputation could become a source of destruction 63.

Ya Li later awoke from a coma in a crippled and aged state. Upon learning that Chen Yu had become a god and that Yun Ming was ruined, she attempted to return to Chen Yu, only to suffer a public breakdown after seeing how unrecognizable she had become 117 118 119.

War with Shrek Academy

The broken engagement escalated into a full-scale political and military confrontation with Shrek Academy, the continent's premier institution for ten thousand years. Chen Yu viewed Shrek Academy as a parasitical entity that had exploited Federation resources for twenty thousand years without fulfilling its responsibility to eliminate threats like the Holy Spirit Cult 6 7.

• Canceling Resource Support: Chen Yu proposed to the Federation Council canceling all resource support for Shrek Academy due to its inability to eradicate the Holy Spirit Cult. Despite fierce opposition from council members aligned with Shrek and noble families, Chen Yu used his veto power and emergency executive orders to forcibly pass the proposal. The news shook the entire continent within half a day 6 7.

• Demand for Repayment: He demanded that Shrek Academy repay the resources used by Ya Li, branding Yun Ming's decision to take on the debt as foolish. When the Sea God Pavilion elders balked, Yun Ming eventually agreed to pay, but the cost was crippling—two hundred years of Shrek's savings 4 5.

• Confrontation with the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan: When noble families and sects—including the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan and the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Sect—demanded Chen Yu withdraw his proposal and apologize to Shrek, Chen Yu ordered the Central Legion to surround the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's estate. • Destruction of Tang Sect: Chen Yu led the Federation army to search the Tang Sect within Shrek City, ordering the arrest of all Tang Sect members and authorizing lethal force against anyone who obstructed. When the Tang Sect's Sect Master, Zang Xin (Amorous Douluo), resisted, Chen Yu personally defeated him, and the entire Tang Sect base was confiscated. Yun Ming was humiliated, unable to resist Chen Yu's calm contempt 31 34.

• Death of Long Yeyue: During the conflict, Chen Yu killed Long Yeyue—a demigod powerhouse and Shrek Academy's Supreme Elder—with a single spear strike using a level-nine Soul Tool. • Final Reckoning: Through consistent pressure, Chen Yu systematically dismantled the alliances propping up Shrek Academy. When asked why he did not simply destroy Shrek Academy outright, Chen Yu replied that what he intended to eliminate was not merely the institution, but “the Shrek in everyone's hearts”—the entrenched reverence for the old order 34. His actions left Yun Ming and the Shrek elders utterly humiliated and powerless, their pride crushed and their influence shattered 34 39.

Chen Yu later used evidence of Shrek’s embezzlement of Federation subsidies and student tuition to force a further reckoning. He killed Outer Court Dean Cai Yue'er, mutilated an elder who confronted him, and compelled Yun Ming to admit Shrek’s fault 70 71. He then ordered Shrek to refund current students’ tuition, using lethal pressure to force Yun Ming to sign an astronomical repayment agreement 71 72.

Chen Yu recruited five hundred disillusioned Shrek students on-site and transferred them to the Sun Moon Royal Soul Master Academy through long-range group teleportation 73. The threat of Level 12 Fixed Soul Tool Shells subsequently forced Shrek to yield further resources rather than risk Shrek City’s destruction 53.

His earlier restraint also reflected Tang Hao’s position as Plane Master. The Tang Sect’s documented treason provided a political justification that Tang Hao could not easily oppose without alienating the Federation populace. After Tang Hao fell from that position, Chen Yu considered himself free to act more openly against Shrek and its allied noble families 78.

Shrek’s remaining elders later attempted to revive the academy by manufacturing crises involving Chen Yu. They planned to reopen the sealed Demon Gate and create a demon invasion for which Shrek could claim credit, but their activities were detected through Federation surveillance 131 132 134.

When the seal was broken, Chen Yu prepared the Central Legion and concealed War Gods near the invasion site. He also required Gu Yuena and the Soul Beast clan to contribute to the defense, arguing that Federation protection entailed obligations and explicitly placing ordinary human lives above Soul Beast lives 134.

Following the crisis, Chen Yu ordered the Shrek elders arrested and escorted to Ming Capital under strict guard. Their protests about Shrek’s status and alleged abuse of authority did not alter his orders 140.

After the academy’s effective collapse, Chen Yu reclaimed Shrek City’s independent tax, political, and administrative sovereignty for the Federation. He retained Shrek Academy only as a name and physical address, prohibiting enrollment and business solicitation in order to expose any remaining loyalists 148. By the time Sea God Island elders visited, the academy stood deserted, its statues neglected and its classrooms abandoned 155.

Yun Ming later attempted to recover and break through to godhood by absorbing the Golden Ancient Tree’s vitality with Ah Yin’s aid. Chen Yu monitored the development remotely, killed Ah Yin and erased her true body, then erased Yun Ming together with the entire Sea God Island in a single punch 162 163.

Expansion of Federation Sovereignty

Following the suppression of Shrek and its allied institutions, Chen Yu continued targeting entrenched powers whose wealth, influence, or autonomy conflicted with Federation control. He identified the resources held by Shrek Academy, the Tang Sect, the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, the War God Temple, and other major sects as debts owed to the Federation 76.

He turned his attention to the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, using satellite surveillance and the sect’s connections to auction houses as grounds for investigation 78. The Federation subsequently sealed the Douluo Auction House, imprisoned implicated sect members, and incorporated the auction house into the Federation 86 87.

Chen Yu also ordered captured Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan members into dangerous factories and mines, while Tang Sect members were sent to guard the Abyss Passage or serve as expendable manpower for the Blood God Legion 86 89. He ordered public trials for illegal auction-house members and other sect disciples, transforming formerly privileged aristocrats into laborers under Federation authority 87 89.

When the Skysea Alliance attempted to preserve its autonomy, Chen Yu used staged Evil Soul Master attacks on the Hailan train and resulting public outrage to deploy the Central Legion and the three great navies across more than twenty alliance cities 93 94. The Federation blockaded ports, patrolled streets, assumed public-security authority, and ultimately took control of every Skysea Alliance city within a month 94 96.

Chen Yu also extended Federation sovereignty overseas. Following the Federation’s intervention in the Star Luo Empire, he renamed Star Luo City as Star Luo State, abolished the imperial system, and replaced it with a republican system under Federation authority. He ordered the former imperial palace demolished and replaced with a Parliament Building, while local aristocratic clans complied to preserve their own interests 194.

After the establishment of Star Luo State, Chen Yu sent Pan Wen to govern the region as his representative and entrusted Gu Yuena with the chief secretary position in the Federation Parliament Building 194. He further directed the Spirit Pagoda and Qiangu Family to support charitable projects in exchange for overlooking Qiangu Dongfeng’s earlier collaboration with the Holy Spirit Cult, provided that Star Luo State remained stable under Federation reforms 203.

A major human-trafficking case involving the Sea God Family prompted Chen Yu to convene the Federation Council and push for a comprehensive purge. His proposal passed unanimously, and tens of thousands of soldiers from his concealed forces appeared in Ming Capital to establish checkpoints, patrol important locations, and maintain order 205 206.

Chen Yu’s understanding of Evil Soul Masters did not reduce the issue to the nature of a martial soul. He distinguished Evil Martial Souls from Evil Soul Masters and considered the development of the Soul Master system in relation to the plane’s will and Tang San’s interference 219.

Destruction of the Holy Spirit Cult

Chen Yu eventually revealed that he knew the location of the Holy Spirit Cult’s Far North headquarters, information that even Pan Wen had not previously known 105. He used advanced soul-guided technology to unleash a sun-like descending light upon the cult’s base 108.

The attack annihilated the Holy Spirit Cult’s two emperors, four heavenly kings, and all remaining Evil Soul Masters, leaving no survivors and creating an enormous crater filled with molten rock 108. This eradication removed the threat that Chen Yu had long accused Shrek Academy of failing to address 6 7 108.

The weapon used against the cult was part of Chen Yu’s Sky-Based Weapon program. The Federation had developed the orbital weapon as a new strategic deterrent, and Chen Yu later confirmed that it had been used to wipe out the Holy Spirit Cult headquarters 101 173.

Chen Yu explained that he had possessed the strength to sweep through the Holy Spirit Cult for decades. Even the Demon Empress’s million-year Deep Sea Demonic Whale King physique was not a meaningful obstacle to his bodily strength, and ordinary divine artifacts might already have been unable to penetrate his defenses 106.

Although the headquarters had been destroyed, Ha Luosa later appeared alive during the Federation’s overseas operations. Chen Yu crossed tens of thousands of miles of sea to the Star Luo Continent and immobilized Ha Luosa, Qiangu Dieting, and the other combatants before intervening in their confrontation 173.

Attainment of Godhood and the Soul Beast Settlement

Chen Yu had already secretly stepped into the realm of deity while the wider continent continued to regard him as a peak quasi-god 4. His public revelation as a true god came during his confrontation with Zhuo Shi and the Clear Sky Sect’s god-level Clear Sky Hammer trump card. Vast golden-red blood energy engulfed Ming Capital, and Chen Yu shattered the seven-colored divine phantom before killing Zhuo Shi 112 114.

His godhood came through a self-created path that absorbed the methods of numerous planes and civilizations rather than inheriting a conventional divine position 124. His self-created divine rank initially lay between a third-tier god and a second-tier god; because he possessed complete mastery over the power he had built step by step, most second-tier gods could not defeat him 124.

After becoming publicly known as a god, Chen Yu visited the Spirit Pagoda and declared his intention to bring the Star Dou Great Forest under Federation jurisdiction 121. He confronted the Soul Beast clan, including Beast God Di Tian, and demanded their submission or extermination 122 123. His effortless dispersal of Di Tian’s attack and release of overwhelming blood energy established the immense gap between himself and the Soul Beasts 123 124.

Gu Yuena, the Silver Dragon King and leader of the Soul Beast race, accepted submission to preserve her people. In exchange, Chen Yu agreed to allocate a complete small plane to the Soul Beasts while incorporating the Star Dou Great Forest into the Federation 124 125. The agreement was sealed with the Book of Contract, initially carrying first-rank god-level power and binding both Chen Yu and Gu Yuena through blood essence 125.

Chen Yu concealed that he intended to reinforce the contract with Federation faith power and the origin power of shattered planes, potentially raising it to God King level and making rebellion fatal so long as humanity remained prosperous 125. He later healed Gu Yuena’s injuries through the Contract Scroll, opened a space rift to the Fifth Minor Plane, relocated the Soul Beast clan there, and explained that their preservation would improve Soul Spirit diversity and ultimately strengthen humanity 126.

The arrangement granted the Soul Beasts residence rather than ownership of the Fifth Minor Plane. When Gu Yuena attempted to refine it, the plane’s power and Chen Yu’s stationed soul fragment responded.
