Background / History

The Federation founded the War God Temple at great cost thousands of years earlier, intending it to serve as an independent force agency and a counterweight to the continent's major organizations. Its resources, personnel, and institutional support were supplied by the Federation. 29 42 45

By Chen Xinjie's tenure as Hall Master, the Temple had become deeply compromised. Chen Xinjie maintained close ties to Shrek Academy through Long Yeyue and the Sea God Family, while Deputy Hall Master Guan Yue was Yun Ming's junior brother. War Gods exploited Federation resources for personal profit, private families, and affiliated sects rather than the Temple's stated mission. 29 45 46 49 154

Chen Xinjie openly aligned the Temple with Shrek Academy against the Federation during his confrontation with Chen Yu. Chen Yu defeated him, placed him under restraint, and declared his intent to restore the Temple as the Federation's institution rather than a faction's private property. 29 30

Following Chen Xinjie's public trial and execution, Chen Yu entered the Temple at West Mountain to confront its remaining leadership. Guan Yue and multiple War Gods were killed during the subsequent purge; the surviving members' armed resistance was annihilated in the underground council hall. 42 45 46 48

Chen Yu ordered Yu Guanzhi and Pan Wen to investigate the Temple's remnants, remove connected personnel, and rebuild its management structure within one week. The reconstituted Temple later fielded a quasi-god Hall Master and two semi-god Vice Hall Masters, drawn from experts Chen Yu had cultivated in secret. 48 158

Headquarters

The War God Temple occupies the summit of West Mountain, a military restricted zone that also houses the Central Legion's core base. The ancient Temple overlooks Ming Capital from the mountain peak. 43

Hell Gate

The Temple's entrance is a colossal black metal gate embedded in a dark-green boulder.

• The gate is approximately five stories high and three stories wide. 44
• Its panels depict twisted soul beasts, suffering humans, and monstrous figures. 44
• It was reportedly forged by the first Temple Master from a special off-plane alloy. 44
• Opening it requires at least three thousand catties of strength, making it both the Temple's first defense and an entrance test. 44
• Behind the gate, a large elevator descends into the Temple's main body within the mountain. 44

Underground Council Hall

The primary hall is an immense underground chamber with a white-jade circular council platform and dozens of stone chairs bearing the symbols of successive War Gods. Night-luminescent pearls set into the dome illuminate the chamber. 44

Before the purge, War Gods assembled there in deep-red battle robes bearing the Temple emblem; the Deputy Hall Master's attire was distinguished by gold trim, patterns, and emblem. 44

Pre-Purge Leadership

• Chen Xinjie — Hall Master; the peak quasi-god Vast Sea Douluo. He used the Temple's authority and alliance with Shrek Academy to oppose the Federation. 25 29

Major Operations

Federation Purge

Chen Yu used Chen Xinjie's alliance with Shrek Academy as evidence of betrayal, then publicly questioned why a Federation-funded institution believed itself beyond Federation judgment. Chen Xinjie's execution was followed by a complete investigation of the Temple. 29 42

Inside the Temple, Chen Yu killed Guan Yue, Nangong Yi, Li Wanjun, and other corrupt War Gods. When the remaining members manifested Martial Souls and Battle Armor to resist, they were obliterated in a single strike. 45 46 48

Demon Incursion Containment

During the demon incursion, War Gods concealed themselves around the mountain range to prevent Shrek elders from escaping. They later helped clear the demon hordes, with their Soul Skills killing large numbers of demons during the Federation's counterattack. 135 136 139

Sea God Island Raid

Three rebuilt Temple leaders infiltrated Sea God Island and launched a coordinated sword-qi assault against its worshippers and attendants. Their attack killed most of those present; the Sea God Island Grand Elder escaped with a trump card, while the Second Worship was left behind and targeted. 158 159

The Temple members returned after Chen Yu killed the fleeing quasi-god Grand Elder from afar with a silver-white spear strike. Chen Yu later reprimanded the team for allowing one target to escape during the operation. 160 161
