Background / History

Yun Ming was the Pavilion Master of Shrek Academy's Sea God Pavilion and one of the Douluo Continent's three peak quasi-gods. He was regarded as a pillar of Shrek and commanded the academy's highest leadership body. His closest trusted elder, Long Yeyue, was killed by Chen Yu, a loss that left Yun Ming pale, exhausted, and shaken. He admitted that even at full strength, he could not kill a demigod as effortlessly as Chen Yu did. 12

When Ya Li arrived at Shrek distressed after her break with Chen Yu, Yun Ming immediately prepared to confront Chen Yu on her behalf. He later agreed to reimburse the Federation for Ya Li's enormous resource expenditures, sacrificing Shrek's resources and reputation to protect her. 3 4 54

As Shrek's conflict with Chen Yu escalated, Yun Ming repeatedly refused to surrender Tang Sect figures or cooperate with Federation demands. His confidence in Shrek's strength gradually gave way to helplessness as Chen Yu overwhelmed the academy politically and militarily. 22 24 26 31 34

Yun Ming eventually sought resources from the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Sect after Shrek's storehouse was emptied. He was later compelled to sign an enormous agreement requiring Shrek to refund student tuition, then was severely injured by Chen Yu's single punch. Yun Ming was fiercely protective of Ya Li and prone to acting emotionally when she appeared vulnerable. Her tears and reliance quickly persuaded him to assume enormous costs on Shrek's behalf. 3 4

As Pavilion Master, he attempted to reassure Shrek's elders and preserve their confidence in the academy's legacy. However, he was less capable in strategy and long-term planning than in personal strength. 12 25

His authority became increasingly strained as Shrek declined. He silenced criticism from the elders by releasing his peak quasi-god aura, while his later desperation for outside resources exposed the academy's weakened position. 40 77

Although Yun Ming initially presented his attachment to Ya Li as devotion, he coveted the power of faith gathered through her Prayer Angel martial soul and intended to use it to seek godhood.
