Yun Ming was the Pavilion Master of Shrek Academy's Sea God Pavilion and one of the Douluo Continent's three peak quasi-gods. He was regarded as a pillar of Shrek and commanded the academy's highest leadership body. His closest trusted elder, Long Yeyue, was killed by Chen Yu, a loss that left Yun Ming pale, exhausted, and shaken. He admitted that even at full strength, he could not kill a demigod as effortlessly as Chen Yu did. 12

Before the Federation's campaign against Shrek, Yun Ming had fought Chen Yu after both entered the quasi-god realm. Despite their nominally comparable cultivation at the time, Yun Ming could not break Chen Yu's body-like martial soul defenses, even when Chen Yu did not use Battle Armor. This earlier defeat left Yun Ming aware that raw cultivation rank did not reflect the gap between them. 7
