Cordis removed the Nen Needle Illumi had planted in Killua, freeing Killua from his brother’s fear and mental control. With Illumi’s attempt to bring Killua home disrupted, Killua faced him without his usual terror.
Killua refused to return home with Illumi, and Cordis won his match against Bokukuka by dodging until his opponent collapsed. The next morning, Kurapika confronted Cordis about his knowledge and demanded answers as his eyes turned blood-red.
Cordis forcibly awakened Kurapika’s Nen, and Kurapika quickly learned its most basic form. Later, they joined Gon and Killua in the hall to wait for their Hunter Licenses, where Kurapika asked Cordis about his ability.
After receiving their Hunter Licenses, Cordis said goodbye to Gon, Killua, and Kurapika and left with Hisoka to fulfill his promise. He arranged for Gon and Killua to meet him in Yorknew City on September first, while Kurapika worried that Cordis might be too closely connected to the Spider.
Cordis followed Hisoka to Yorknew City and delayed their meeting with the Spiders to find a distinctive outfit. He left the clothing store dressed in an expensive, one-of-a-kind ensemble and glove, while Hisoka paid nearly three hundred million JN.
Cordis met Chrollo and several Phantom Troupe members, expecting a commission, but discovered Hisoka had brought him along on a sightseeing trip. As the group arrived at the Bolan Tomb, Chrollo remained suspicious of Cordis’s identity and questioned whether he was really from Meteor City.
At Bolan Tomb, Cordis and the Spider were ambushed by a group of Nen users, and Chrollo asked Cordis to reveal his Nen Ability. Cordis unleashed a water-based attack that devastated the attackers, while the exact nature of his ability remained unexplained.
Cordis defeated the gang leader and his underlings with [Flowing Woman], then told Chrollo that his Nen Ability let him control anything that flowed. The leader’s former followers scattered, leaving Cordis and Chrollo to discuss the ability.
Cordis discovered that his Nen category was Specialization, then joined the Spider at an arcade, where Feitan dragged him into a game despite his inexperience. Cordis repeatedly died in the game but narrowly avoided Feitan's anger before Hisoka approached.
Cordis left Hisoka and the Phantom Troupe, then used his Hunter License to secure a luxury hotel room despite having no money. The next morning, he took a bodyguard job protecting a rare Febola Stone and arrived at the mansion before the other Hunters.
Cordis arrived early to guard the Febola Stone, then joined Nedepu and Qiudaozi when the butler explained their task. The butler revealed the stone was locked inside an iron cube and gave the keys to Qiudaozi, wary of Cordis’s interest in the gem.
Cordis guarded the Febola Stone at a lavish banquet while the Phantom Troupe prepared to steal it. Chrollo recognized Cordis among the guards and realized the heist would be more complicated than expected.
At the banquet, the merchant opened the iron box and revealed the Febola Stone, whose beauty made Cordis decide to claim it despite needing money for his Hunter License. Chrollo had Shalnark cut the mansion’s power, plunging the room into darkness as Qiudaozi and Nedepu tried to protect the stone and merchant, while Cordis disappeared.
Cordis encountered Chrollo and the Phantom Troupe while trying to secure the Febola Stone, then reached the helicopter and threatened the people guarding the gem. The old butler ordered Qiudaozi and Nedepu to hold Cordis off while he escorted the boss and the Febola Stone to safety.
Cordis killed Nedepu with his blood-controlling ability, but the old butler escaped by helicopter with the wealthy merchant and the Febola Stone. Cordis used Nedepu’s blood to form a pillar that carried him into the air as he pursued them.
Cordis chased the Febola Stone from the crashing helicopter and searched for it after landing safely. Chrollo found the gemstone and offered it to Cordis, who nervously asked him to give it up.
Cordis refused to absorb the Febola Stone’s power, turned it into a sapphire, and spent his remaining money commissioning a brooch before heading to Heavens Arena because he was broke again. There he met Wing and got him to buy two tickets to Gon’s match against Gido.
Cordis reunited with Killua and watched Gon’s first match on the 200th floor, where Gon kept fighting after the match ended until Cordis called him back. Gon ran into Cordis’s arms and excitedly recounted recent events, including his encounter with Hisoka.
Cordis reunited with Hisoka, who demanded repayment for Cordis’s expensive clothes before offering to erase the debt and pay him to borrow his body. Gon attacked Hisoka after misunderstanding the offer, and Hisoka dodged.
After Hisoka invited Cordis to meet him at six, Cordis left Gon and Killua to train and went to Hisoka’s room at Heavens Arena. Hisoka greeted him dressed in a formal black suit, leaving Cordis wondering what he had planned and readying a knife.
Hisoka took Cordis to Fillmore Casino for an important job, though Cordis remained wary of his advances. On the way, Cordis healed Hisoka’s chin wound with Flowing Woman, and the chapter left them arriving at the casino.
Cordis and Hisoka visited the Fillmore Casino, where Hisoka revealed he had no money and planned to challenge the first-floor gambling boss to reach the second floor. They met the boss, Bowenbo, who became excited when he saw Cordis.
Hisoka and Bowenbo wagered Cordis against six billion JN and were transported into a gambling game involving a murdered woman and the people at the table. The winged fish announced that the killer was among them, leaving Cordis to recall seeing the victim at Heavens Arena shortly before her death.
Cordis and Hisoka examined June’s corpse during a murder game, finding a tuft of short hair in her hand before the inspection time ran out. As the players questioned July and accused her of killing June, July insisted she had not seen June since the previous night and turned the accusation toward the blue-haired woman.
Modi admitted that she had poisoned June’s water, but Cordis found no sign that June had drunk it. After Hisoka discovered June had miscarried, June’s younger brother Sao appeared, and Cordis accused him of lying and being involved with her pregnancy.
