| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Rust-damaged superfactory | 465 592 | Initially recorded at 41% exploration. Extensive corrosion crippled much of its machinery, although its perimeter weapons remained dangerous. |
| Reactivated factory and defenses | 616 619 | Resolution of Rust Disease restored much stronger firepower, new robot models, and an expanding security perimeter. Tens of thousands of robots defended the island. |
| Giant war-machine form revealed | 630 | Rose upright after an internal nuclear explosion, revealing a colossal mechanical body parasitized by the Soul Leviathan. Its main structure survived, but its Fear-Killing Cannons were destroyed. |
| Player-controlled restoration | 635 640 | Occupation triggered factory formatting and repairs. Yang Yi received highest authority, and the island regained power and mobility. |
| Improved propulsion | 640 666 | Early maximum speed was below fifteen knots. Later maintained approximately twenty knots, with forty knots possible through heavy Magic Stone expenditure. |
| Burning Giant’s Heart revival | 812 815 | Yang Yi temporarily restored movement to the crippled island by connecting himself to it and powering it with the Burning Giant’s Heart. Its insulated core survived the subsequent melting of its exterior. |
| Fang Core Factory improvement | 820 826 | Yang Yi observed instantaneous production from nothing. During reconstruction, Black-Gold and Platinum models appeared more frequently, which he attributed to the Fang Core Factory. |
| Three-body reconstruction begun | 826 | Adopted a nested defensive design, moving civilian areas inside and reserving the surface for military facilities. Planned dimensions exceeded 100,000 meters long and 40,000 meters wide. |
| Two nested layers completed | 887 | Two of the three planned layers were finished; the outermost remained under construction. |
| Developed strength compared to Mythic level | 906 | Little Shen Guanquan assessed that the developed island possessed strength comparable to a Mythic-level powerhouse. This was a strategic assessment, not a new system danger rating. |
| Three-level framework nearing completion | 917 | Main framework reached 90% completion. The island also possessed several level-eight Twisted Warships. |
| Ultimate Victory Island integration | 1120 1130 | Incorporated three other Player Islands. After severe anomalies disrupted the combined island, Steam Island’s production capacity largely recovered, while the Burning Tree became its main power source. |
History
Discovery and Occupation
Yu Dawei discovered Steam Island as a rust-covered superfactory with collapsed buildings and still-active defenses. Its initial intelligence entry placed it in the Sea of No Light. Yang Yi later reasoned that it must previously have been in the Death Plague Sea because of the disease outbreak there; this was his deduction rather than a confirmed historical record 465 486 592.
The Iron Brotherhood could not initially land through the island’s artillery barrage. Yu Dawei identified underwater infiltration as the safer approach, since boiling seawater disrupted torpedo guidance and could detonate torpedoes prematurely. Yang Yi subsequently tested the defenses himself before joining the planned assault 572 592 599.
Before the attack began, Steam Island unexpectedly moved away while fighting sea monsters. The attackers advanced early, and the island later reversed course as its restored systems began actively hunting the creatures. Inside, Yang Yi identified the Production Line as the key target: a prolonged battle favored an island capable of continually manufacturing defenders 609 616 619.
The operation culminated in a nuclear explosion and the emergence of Steam Island’s giant mechanical body under the Soul Leviathan’s control. After the remaining hostile robots were eliminated, the system confirmed full occupation. Yang Yi and his Fleet received the greatest-contribution reward and highest access privileges 630 634 635.
Opening to Players
Following occupation, Steam Island began sailing toward the Shelter’s coordinates. Yang Yi and Yu Dawei developed its upper platform into a commercial district, while the One-Eye Cult supplied personnel for administration and public order 640 645 658.
Its official opening brought more than 200,000 players into the Regional Channel. The teleportation plaza stood in the center of the main commercial avenue, giving arrivals immediate access to the island’s busiest district. Housing purchases and sea-monster fishing subsequently helped establish a resident community 660 663 666.
Fang Leviathan Crisis
Steam Island vanished from the World Sea Chart shortly before its planned rendezvous with the Shelter. Portals and communications failed, and residents discovered that the island and surrounding sea were descending inside an enclosed space. Yu Dawei realized that a Leviathan had swallowed them when explosions illuminated purple flesh overhead 799 802.
The island deployed its robot army, warships, and Iron Giant God form, but repeated attacks destroyed its surface defenses and drove the fighting inward. Its heavy internal walls bought time for the defenders, although the main combat control center was eventually abandoned and destroyed 803 804 807 811 812.
Yang Yi reanimated the island through the Burning Giant’s Heart and used its machinery against a gigantic Tooth Beast. He later carried the partially molten island within a Flame Giant and hurled it into the sea, destroying surrounding enemies while its insulated core and surviving players endured. Robot production resumed, and Green Island joined the counteroffensive in exchange for discounted robots 812 815.
Later Conflicts
Steam Island became a refuge for Green Island survivors during the battle against the Radiant Holy Church. It also supplied robots, weapons, and industrial support for subsequent player campaigns 955 983 1046.
Abu Singh’s dream spell later began dissolving the island and its sleeping players. Steam Island activated its evacuation plan and detached modules. Yang Yi’s attempted countermeasure was manipulated into summoning a dissolving Dream Island, forcing further Portal evacuations while he used the Iron Giant God to move survivors and modules away from the breach 1030 1032.
In the assault on Miracle Island, Steam Island appeared in Iron Giant God form and demolished the factory before the Gate of Glory with two strikes from its megastructure weapon, Toothed Whale. The players nevertheless withdrew because they could not overcome the gate’s rapid self-repair 1072.
Ultimate Victory Island
To cross the Sea of Abundance and attack Salt Island, the players merged Steam Island with Green Island, Corpse Island, and Burning Island. Weeks of construction produced Ultimate Victory Island, a heavily modified combined structure 1120.
Anomalies subsequently crippled its propulsion and devastated sections of the island. After conditions stabilized, factories resumed operation and repairs allowed the voyage to continue. Later inspections found that production capacity had largely recovered, though Tiny Spiders in the Corpse Zone remained a persistent structural threat 1120 1130.
Appearance and Layout
- Original platform: Roughly circular and fifteen kilometers across, resembling an offshore industrial platform rather than a natural island 592.
- Early surface: Abandoned factories, collapsed buildings, rusted machinery, and perimeter weapons projecting like a hedgehog’s spines 592.
- Characteristic atmosphere: White factory steam, machine-oil odors, and the rumble and clang of heavy production machinery 639 1008.
- Giant form: A colossal mechanical body whose initial upright reveal exceeded twenty thousand meters in height while roughly half remained underwater 630.
- Reconstructed design: Three nested bodies intended to preserve combat capability and provide successive fallback positions after an outer layer was breached 826.
| Area / Facility | Description |
|---|---|
| Core Factory Zone | Industrial heart of the island. During later development, more than twenty Portals operated almost continuously to deliver production materials 1008. |
| Twisted Ship Processing Factory | Accessible through an internal dock and a gate in the island’s side 645. |
| Commercial District | Initially developed on the top platform around a central teleportation plaza. Later reconstruction called for planned districts to move inside 645 660 826. |
| Shelters | Internal refuges reached through passages rising from city streets; equipped to receive players and broadcast combat updates 802 804. |
| Enclosed waterways | By the two-layer reconstruction stage, one passage was 800 meters wide, with roads along both banks, overhead floodlights, and weapons above and below the water 887. |
| Second-ring port | Reached through branching waterways and used to receive Yang Yi’s returning ships 887. |
| Central Hospital | Seerte handled 70% of surgeries and all cybernetic body maintenance and modifications through her Queen Bee body and worker-bee network 917. |
| One-Eye Grand Church | Rebuilt as a mobile structure with mechanical legs. Yang Yi planned to suspend the Treasure Ship from it as a trading vessel 887. |
Abilities and Defenses
Twisted Finite Miracle Factory
Steam Island’s unique ability produces technological creations, including robots and custom-built machinery 638 653.
- Manufactures construction units, combat robots, weapons, warships, and specialized infrastructure 791 803 917.
- Can convert captured sea monsters into Basic Supplies, although allocating production to this work slows other construction and incurs substantial costs 917.
- Its core factory has a capture function used during the attempt to contain the entity called Mother 820.
- Yang Yi judged its ultimate potential extraordinary but believed reaching its maximum might require capturing every Leviathan in the world 820.
- Full operation was initially expected to require capturing a deep-sea Leviathan; otherwise, production costs would remain too high 638.
Iron Giant God
Steam Island can rise from the sea and transform into a gigantic humanoid war machine 804 1032.
- Brings normally submerged weapons above the surface during transformation 804.
- Can wield megastructure weapons, including Toothed Whale 1072.
- Remains vulnerable to catastrophic internal damage: broken pipelines, cables, and control systems rendered it immobile during the Fang Leviathan battle 812.
- Yang Yi’s Burning Giant’s Heart revival was an emergency intervention, not the island’s ordinary power system 812.
Armor and Defensive Depth
The island’s shell and compartmentalized interior allow it to survive damage that would destroy ordinary vessels 616 630 811.
- Sonar measured the wall between the cannon route and ammunition chamber at approximately 800 meters thick; the outer shell appeared to use the same high-density metal 616.
- An internal nuclear explosion tore open its upper section but left much of the lower mechanical body intact 630.
- A 100-meter-thick wall protected the Core Factory Zone during the Fang Leviathan invasion 811.
- The later nested design allowed residents to retreat progressively toward the innermost body 826.
Weapons and Robot Forces
| System | Documented capabilities |
|---|---|
| Early perimeter defenses | Cannons, rockets, autocannons, missiles, and torpedoes. Rust caused poor accuracy, erratic trajectories, and frequent launch failures 592 599. |
| Initial engagement perimeter | Indiscriminate targeting began at approximately twenty nautical miles; fire became an oversaturation barrage at fifteen nautical miles 592. |
| Original giant cannons | Four cardinal-facing cannons, each approximately 500 meters in caliber with barrels exceeding two kilometers 592. |
| Modified Fear-Killing Cannons | Twelve deployed around the island during the Fang Leviathan attack. Reconstruction later added Black-Gold models and a much larger Platinum model 802 826. |
| Underwater robots | Hunt and recover sea monsters using weapons, grappling claws, and nets; later forces included Fisherman Robots and Underwater Security Robots 616 803. |
| Twisted Warships | Hundreds of level-seven vessels deployed during the Fang Leviathan crisis; several level-eight examples existed later 803 917. |
| Light Containers | Illuminate the island and suppress Black Shadows. Stronger illumination also accelerates the dissolution of Large Black Shadows 666 833. |
Mobility
- Normally moves with enough stability that residents barely notice its motion 666.
- Maintained approximately twenty knots after its early propulsion improvements 666.
- Could reach forty knots by consuming large quantities of Magic Stones, at the cost of noticeable rocking 666.
- Can alter its immersion depth; Yang Yi submerged most of its body after occupation, leaving the circular platform visible above the sea 645.
Enemy of Sea Monsters
The island’s permanent disaster stems from its prolonged, indiscriminate hunting of deep-sea creatures 638.
- Causes periodic sea-monster sieges and can attract Leviathans 638.
- Yang Yi suspected that it also made nearby sea monsters easier for anglers to catch; this remained his interpretation 666.
Administration and Economy
Authority and Management
- Yang Yi — Highest authority holder and later governor; approves major construction, production allocations, and strategic decisions 638 917.
- Yu Dawei — First in the initial partial-permission order; directs combat readiness, defenses, and operational management 638 802.
- Su Na — Second initial partial-permission holder; contributes engineering designs and potion formulas for production 638 647 798.
- Zhang Zhi — Granted relatively high permissions to coordinate management; oversees reconstruction reports and major development proposals 640 917.
- Ma Dabao and the One-Eye Cult — Supply staff for public order and the Commercial District. Yang Yi funded the arrangement with one billion Conch Coins 658.
The highest authority holder can transfer control and grant or revoke partial permissions, but cannot revoke those held by the initial permission holders. On the holder’s death, authority passes according to permission rank and succession order 638.
Commerce and Residency
- Revenue sources: Site rentals, teleportation permits, overstay charges, accommodation, and manufactured-product sales 647.
- Early housing prices: 10,000–100,000 Conch Coins per square meter, depending on location. Buyers were limited to one property, and transfers were prohibited to deter speculation 663.
- Migration policy: Residents could move elsewhere while retaining their Steam Island property 791.
- Public-order enforcement: Early offenders received substantial fines, removal from the island, and one-month entry bans 663.
- Portal restriction: Players without functioning Player ships could not enter through Portals until their ships were rebuilt 660.
- Major export: Bigji Robots became the island’s bestselling model because of their versatility, durability, combat capability, and low price 791.
- Specialized businesses: Fishing suppliers, a Potion Shop, and Yang Yi’s blacksmith shop supported the island’s commercial activity 666 777 798.
Associated Places and Organizations
- Iron Brotherhood — Discovered Steam Island, organized its conquest, and established it as a base. Its members later received separate daily-life and combat bodies through the island’s development 465 609 777.
- Shelter / Seerte — Integrated with Steam Island as a secondary base and planned wartime refuge. Its later redesign required independent operation because the enlarged ship would no longer fit the island’s internal waterways 781 1014.
- Green Island — Major trading and military partner; purchased robots, supplied reinforcements during the Fang Leviathan crisis, and sent survivors to Steam Island during the Holy Church attack 791 815 983.
- Corpse Island and Burning Island — Joined Steam Island and Green Island in the construction of Ultimate Victory Island 1120.
- Keepers’ Society — Attributed author of the warning displayed in Steam Island’s system information: “Humanity need only master finite miracles. Excessive greed... will bring nothing but destruction” 638.
