Background
Following the war against Spirit Hall, Shrek Academy relocated to the site that became Shrek City. The city stands near the center of the continent, adjacent to the Star Dou Great Forest, making it the base from which Shrek claimed to oversee the balance between humanity and the Soul Beast race 129.
For much of its history, Shrek City functioned as an academy-controlled territory. Its tax, political, and other sovereign rights were independent of the Federation, privileges described as having been extracted by Shrek Academy during its peak 148.
The city's historical importance was closely tied to Shrek Academy's four major roles: educating and nurturing Soul Masters, safeguarding continental peace, balancing humanity and the Soul Beast race, and eliminating Evil Soul Masters. As continental unification made peace an established condition and the Federation independently eliminated the Evil Soul Master threat, the foundations of Shrek's authority—and consequently the city's special status—gradually weakened 129.

- East Gate — The main confrontation point during the Federation's encirclement. Yun Ming, Shrek elders, and Tang Sect powerhouses assembled above it to face the Federal military 23. Zang Xin was later defeated and crashed onto its gate tower 32.

Erosion of Shrek's Influence
The Federation's decision to cut off its annual resource support for Shrek Academy marked an early political challenge to the institution that dominated Shrek City. The measure was justified by Shrek's failure to eliminate the Holy Spirit Cult and was forcibly passed by Chen Yu through the Speaker's veto power and an emergency executive order 6 7.
Although public opinion initially favored Shrek and protests appeared outside the Parliament Building, the Federation's military strength and technological development made the city's former independence increasingly difficult to defend. The Federation possessed four Level 12 Fixed Soul Guidance Cannonballs originally, with three remaining after one had already been detonated as a deterrent against Shrek 7 17.
Shrek's financial collapse further weakened the city as an academy-centered power. The academy's storehouse was emptied, its repayment obligations became overwhelming, and its students began leaving after the tuition scandal and the revelation of Shrek's institutional misconduct 54 72 115. The loss of Shrek's public reputation removed much of the political legitimacy that had supported the city's special status.
Federal Encirclement
The Central, Southern, Western, and Northwestern Legions advanced on Shrek City from four directions, deploying armored formations, Soul Tool artillery, and military aircraft. The broader operation involved seven major legions, with the three naval forces blockading Tianhai City to prevent the Tang Sect from escaping 21 23.
The airspace was sealed so tightly that no one could leave without Federal authorization 23. The military camp was ordered to advance into the city regardless of who stood in its way, with the Federation troops instructed to kill anyone who obstructed the operation 31.
Residents were directed toward shelters or the outskirts through designated evacuation routes. Despite fear and complaints, the evacuation remained orderly under the Federation's official safety order 23.
At the city's east gate, dozens of Shrek and Tang Sect powerhouses gathered above the walls to confront the approaching military. Yun Ming led the defenders, while Yu Guanzhi and the other legion commanders carried out Chen Yu's orders without hesitation 23 31.
Tang Sect Raid
After Chen Yu ordered the arrest of every Tang Sect member in the city, Federal troops entered Shrek City with authorization to kill anyone who obstructed them 31. At the east gate, Tang Sect Master Zang Xin was defeated by a single punch and crashed onto the gate tower 32.
The Tang Sect headquarters was cleared in three hours. Thousands of disciples, deacons, elders, a Supreme Elder, and Zang Xin were restrained and transported away, ending the sect's presence in Shrek City 33.
The raid demonstrated that neither the Tang Sect's alliance with Shrek nor the city's former autonomous status could prevent the Federation from enforcing its authority. Shrek's elders did not intervene after witnessing Zang Xin's defeat and the Federation's overwhelming military pressure 32 38.
Level 12 Shell Threat
The Federation aimed its remaining three Level 12 Fixed Soul ammunition shells at Shrek City to compel Shrek Academy to repay its debt. The threat forced Yun Ming and the academy leadership to comply, as the city itself would be destroyed if the weapons were launched 51 52 53.
The shells were presented as a direct reminder that the Federation possessed the means to annihilate the city and that Shrek's high-level Soul Masters could not reliably withstand such weapons 17 51.
Collapse of Shrek's Local Influence
Shrek Academy's financial crisis, tuition-refund agreement, and loss of students weakened the institution that had dominated the city for millennia. More than twenty percent of the Outer Court transferred to the reopened Sun Moon Royal Soul Master Academy, with first- and second-year students forming most of those who left 72 73.
The academy's resource shortages were worsened by the embezzlement of funds and treasures by its elders. Yun Ming ordered the elders to recover resources they had diverted to their families, while also seeking emergency assistance from the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Sect 75 77.
After the exposure of Shrek's role in releasing demons from the Demon Plane, its elders were arrested and publicly tried for anti-human crimes 139 140 141. The academy's reputation collapsed, and the city lost the political foundation for its independent status.
The revelation that Shrek had concealed the true conditions governing the path to godhood caused another wave of public anger and mass withdrawals from the academy 115. By this point, the city was no longer supported by the broad public faith that had previously protected Shrek's privileges.
Demon Calamity
In an attempt to restore Shrek's prestige, its elders deliberately reopened a sealed passage between the Douluo Plane and the Demon Plane, intending to create a crisis that they could help resolve and claim credit for 132 133.
The resulting demon invasion threatened the Yuanen Family's territory and endangered humanity on a continental scale. Although Shrek elders later appeared to assist in the defense, satellite footage revealed that one of them had personally broken the seal before fleeing the scene 133 139.
The Federation and its military ultimately suppressed the invasion. The incident was broadcast across the Soul Guidance Network, producing widespread outrage and leading to the public trial of Shrek's elders for crimes against humanity 140 141. The event further destroyed the legitimacy of Shrek Academy and made the continued independence of Shrek City untenable.
Recovery of Sovereignty
Chen Yu ordered the Federation to reclaim Shrek City's sovereign powers and authorized the immediate execution of resistance 148. When city officials refused to cooperate, one elder was shot after declaring that Shrek City belonged to Shrek Academy and would resist to the death 148.
Following the shooting, the remaining officials ceased opposition. The Federation absorbed the city's administration, revoked Shrek's exemptions, and fully integrated its legal system into the Federation 149.
The transfer ended the city's twenty-thousand-year period of independence. Federation flags replaced those bearing Shrek's emblem, and city departments were placed under the Federation's unified establishment 149.
Later Condition
Chen Yu chose not to destroy Shrek Academy itself. Instead, he ordered that its name and location be retained while all enrollment and commercial activities were prohibited, leaving it as a symbolic remnant through which remaining loyalists could be identified 148.
Shrek Academy was later found deserted: its gates were unguarded, its plaque covered in dust and cobwebs, and the statues of the original Shrek Seven Devils and Huo Yuhao were overgrown with moss. Its classrooms stood empty and dust-covered 155.
The academy was subsequently described to the Star Luo Empire as having been sealed off by the Federation for violating federal law, with its elders already subjected to justice 164. Thus, although the physical city remained inhabited and administratively functional, its original academy-centered identity had effectively ended.
Despite the academy's decline, intense energy fluctuations later appeared within Shrek Academy. The Federal Satellite Bureau assessed the phenomenon as having reached the level of a god and reported that the entire academy had been enveloped in golden light 161. Chen Yu then arrived above Shrek City and observed the academy from the air, while the Golden Ancient Tree remained the principal valuable entity within the abandoned grounds 162.
