Background

Following the war against Spirit Hall, Shrek Academy relocated to the site that became Shrek City. The city stands near the center of the continent, adjacent to the Star Dou Great Forest, making it the base from which Shrek claimed to oversee the balance between humanity and the Soul Beast race 129.

For much of its history, Shrek City functioned as an academy-controlled territory. Its tax, political, and other sovereign rights were independent of the Federation, privileges described as having been extracted by Shrek Academy during its peak 148.

Notable Locations

• East Gate — The main confrontation point during the Federation's encirclement. Yun Ming, Shrek elders, and Tang Sect powerhouses assembled above it to face the Federal military 23.
• Tang Sect Headquarters — A large ancient complex in the city's northwest corner. Federal soldiers emptied it within three hours and sealed its gates after arresting its personnel 33.
• Shrek City Hall — An ancient building, stated to be over twenty thousand years old, bearing Shrek Academy's emblem and reliefs of the original Shrek Seven Devils 148.
• Shrek Academy — The city's defining institution and former source of its special status. Its gates, plazas, classrooms, and statues were later found abandoned and neglected 155.
• Golden Ancient Tree — Located at Shrek Academy and identified as the Life Core of the Douluo Plane; its vitality is later targeted during Yun Ming's attempted recovery and breakthrough 162.

Story Role / Major Events

Federal Encirclement

The Central, Southern, Western, and Northwestern Legions advanced on Shrek City from four directions, deploying armored formations, Soul Tool artillery, and military aircraft. The airspace was sealed so tightly that no one could leave without Federal authorization 21 23.

Residents were directed toward shelters or the outskirts through designated evacuation routes. Despite fear and complaints, the evacuation remained orderly under the Federation's official safety order 23.

Tang Sect Raid

After Chen Yu ordered the arrest of every Tang Sect member in the city, Federal troops entered Shrek City with authorization to kill anyone who obstructed them 31. At the east gate, Tang Sect Master Zang Xin was defeated by a single punch and crashed onto the gate tower 32.

The Tang Sect headquarters was cleared in three hours. Thousands of disciples, deacons, elders, a Supreme Elder, and Zang Xin were restrained and transported away, ending the sect's presence in Shrek City 33.

Level 12 Shell Threat

The Federation aimed its remaining three Level 12 Fixed Soul ammunition shells at Shrek City to compel Shrek Academy to repay its debt. The threat forced Yun Ming and the academy leadership to comply, as the city itself would be destroyed if the weapons were launched 51 52 53.

Collapse of Shrek's Local Influence

Shrek Academy's financial crisis, tuition-refund agreement, and loss of students weakened the institution that had dominated the city for millennia. More than twenty percent of the Outer Court transferred to the reopened Sun Moon Royal Soul Master Academy, with first- and second-year students forming most of those who left 72 73.

After the exposure of Shrek's role in releasing demons from the Demon Plane, its elders were arrested and publicly tried for anti-human crimes 139 140 141. The academy's reputation collapsed, and the city lost the political foundation for its independent status.

Recovery of Sovereignty

Chen Yu ordered the Federation to reclaim Shrek City's sovereign powers and authorized the immediate execution of resistance 148. When city officials refused to cooperate, one elder was shot after declaring that Shrek City belonged to Shrek Academy and would resist to the death 148.

Following the shooting, the remaining officials ceased opposition. The Federation absorbed the city's administration, revoked Shrek's exemptions, and fully integrated its legal system into the Federation 149.

Later Condition

Shrek Academy was later found deserted: its gates were unguarded, its plaque covered in dust and cobwebs, and the statues of the original Shrek Seven Devils and Huo Yuhao were overgrown with moss. Its classrooms stood empty and dust-covered 155.

Despite the academy's decline, golden light later enveloped it when Ah Yin and Yun Ming attempted to use the Golden Ancient Tree's vitality to restore Yun Ming and help him break through to godhood 162.
