Background / History

Birth and challenge for first place

Pangu emerged from a giant egg after the Great Dao mobilized Chaos source energy across billions of light-years to nourish him. He was born with the Pangu Axe, Creation Jade Butterfly, and 36th-Grade Chaos Green Lotus, and immediately possessed Chaos Realm cultivation. 9

Upon his birth, Pangu challenged Shichen for the position of first among the Three Thousand Chaos Demon Gods. He forced his way through the rankings, destroying the Dao bodies of several challengers—including Luo Hou and the Chaos Demon Ape—with his axe before confronting Shichen. 9 10

His battle with Shichen devastated Hundun’s space and time. Pangu unleashed the Law of Strength and One Force Breaks Ten Thousand Daos, but Shichen ultimately won the First Tribulation. Pangu retained second place and demanded a future rematch despite his injuries. 11 12

Opening heaven and earth

After learning that the Great Dao intended for him to slaughter the Demon Gods and open heaven, Pangu openly rejected the original plan. He accepted Shichen’s alternative: the Demon Gods would preserve their true bodies by sending Dao bodies to bear the burden of creation. 13

Pangu, Shichen, and Yang Mei forged pseudo versions of Pangu’s three supreme treasures for this purpose. When the Eye of the Great Dao decreed that he open the heavens, Pangu sent forth his Dao body carrying the Pseudo-Pangu Axe, Pseudo-Creation Jade Butterfly, and Pseudo-Chaos Green Lotus. 16 17

For ten Chaos Epochs, Pangu’s Dao body cleaved Chaos apart while Shichen stabilized time and space. The Dao body then held heaven and earth apart until the Dao bodies of the Three Thousand Chaos Demon Gods filled out the new world’s laws. 17

After completing its task, Pangu’s Dao body transformed into the Primordial World’s natural features. Pangu’s true body remained intact; he placed twelve drops of essence blood in Mount Buzhou’s Pangu Hall and divided the remaining Primordial Spirit of his Dao body into three streams of clear energy. 17

Authority over the Primordial World

Although the Primordial World was opened with all Demon Gods’ participation, Pangu holds absolute authority over it. He tolerated the Demon Gods’ early contingencies, but would oppose further interference that destabilized the developing Heavenly Dao. 29

Pangu later entrusted the Primordial World to Shichen while the two left the Hundun world to explore beyond its boundary. Together, they conquered Tianyuan Divine World, with Pangu killing one of its Hunyuan-realm defenders and coercing its Heavenly Dao into yielding eighty percent of the world’s origin. 30 35

Later conflicts

Pangu fought beside Shichen against the God of Systems’ avatar, combining the Dao of Strength with Shichen’s Dao of Time to destroy the avatar. 55

When Shichen’s divinity overwhelmed his reason and he attempted to restart Chaos, Pangu opposed him directly. He led the lower-ranked Demon Gods in combining their Dao powers with the Pangu Axe, landing the blow that broke through Shichen’s indifference and helped restore his senses. 67 69

Afterward, Pangu refined a Dao body and chose Pangu Hall in the Primordial World as his target anomaly. He became angered by the Twelve Ancestral Witches’ manipulation by an anomaly, though he ultimately treated their affairs as insignificant beside the greater cosmos. 70 74

Pangu later accompanied the Demon Gods into other universes and fought the God of Systems’ avatar again alongside Shichen, Yang Mei, and the other Demon Gods. 78 83 84

Intervention in the Witch-Demon Calamity

During the Witch-Demon Calamity, the Twelve Ancestral Witches activated the Twelve Capital Heavenly Gods Baleful Array with their essence blood and summoned Pangu’s complete true form into the Primordial World. His manifestation, millions of light-years tall, immediately suppressed the battlefield. 97

Pangu rebuked the Ancestral Witches for their brutality and recklessness before preparing to kill the system-backed Taiyi with One Force Breaks Ten Thousand Daos. Hongjun persuaded him to stay his hand because the attack would have returned the Primordial World to Chaos; Hongjun subsequently executed Taiyi himself. 98

Following a brief confrontation with Heavenly Dao Shichen, Pangu forced the withdrawal of the Primordial World’s tribulation. He warned the emotionally stripped Heavenly Dao not to endanger the world created by the Chaos Demon Gods, then reprimanded Dijiang for failing his expectations. 98

Pangu later bestowed the Blade of Time upon the Three Pure Ones and passed One Force Breaks Ten Thousand Daos to the Twelve Ancestral Witches, warning the latter not to remain “brainless brutes.” 106

Divinity, systems, and the impostor war

After reaching the fifth heaven of the Chaos Realm, Pangu was briefly overwhelmed by his own divinity. He attacked Shichen with a combined Time-Strength axe strike, inadvertently injured the Destruction Demon God, and devastated a region of Chaos hundreds of millions of light-years across. Shichen used Pangu’s returning Dao body and three Dao laws to suppress his divinity. 103

While Shichen was in seclusion, Pangu came to the aid of the Order and Creation Demon Gods against the Main God Space system. Using a Time-Strength-enhanced One Force Breaks Ten Thousand Daos, he severed one-third of the system’s source, then remained behind to guard the five great universes until Shichen awoke. 123

When system-created impostors of the Chaos Demon Gods emerged, Pangu confronted the false Creation Demon God, Fake Pangu, and their allies. He relied on his genuine Chaos treasures and the combined Daos of Time and Strength to overwhelm the fakes, ultimately killing Fake Pangu with his newly comprehended divine ability, Eternal Force. 135 136

Pangu subsequently returned to the Chaos war, rescuing Yang Mei by cleaving Fake Karma Demon God into Dao dust and helping eliminate the remaining impostors. After Yang Mei concluded that the God of Systems was behind the replicas, Pangu was assigned to protect the Chaos Dao Court and Shichen’s place of seclusion. 138

Appearance

Pangu is a colossal, muscular giant with bronze skin, rugged features, wild black hair, and tiger-like eyes. His presence carries the majesty of opening heaven and earth, and his aura alone can collapse the surrounding Chaos. 9

  • Extremely large even by Chaos Demon God standards; upon emergence, he stood billions upon billions of zhang tall. 9
  • Broad, heavily muscled build; commonly depicted bare-chested while carrying the Pangu Axe. 9 57
  • Golden divine blood flows from his injuries. 69
  • Often bears the Creation Jade Butterfly overhead and stands upon the Chaos Green Lotus in battle. 9 83
  • When summoned through the Twelve Capital Heavenly Gods Baleful Array, his complete true form stood millions of light-years tall, with golden light blazing from his eyes. 97 98
  • In later battles, a two-colored Dao Wheel representing the Daos of Strength and Time manifests behind him. 123

Personality

Pangu is direct, proud, and intensely competitive. His first act after emerging was to challenge the strongest Demon God in Chaos, and he considers opponents who cannot endure several axe strikes unworthy of a satisfying fight. 9 28

He is openly defiant toward the Great Dao. Upon discovering his designated role in the Heaven-Opening Calamity, he threatened to strike at the Origin of the Great Dao itself rather than obediently sacrifice the Demon Gods. 13

Despite his bluntness and aggression, Pangu is loyal to those he recognizes as brothers. He trusts Shichen’s judgment even when angry, accepted Shichen’s origin essence after initial hesitation, and fought to restore Shichen when the latter lost himself to divinity. 41 47 69

Pangu is protective of his descendants, particularly the Twelve Ancestral Witches, though his concern is tempered by his vast perspective: he considers even the destruction of the Primordial World reversible because he could open heaven again. 74

He is harshly critical of the Ancestral Witches’ cruelty and gullibility, but continues to guide them personally and grant them powerful divine abilities. 74 98 106

Having reached the fifth heaven of the Chaos Realm, Pangu must also guard against divinity suppressing his emotional consciousness. When affected, he becomes impulsive enough to attack Shichen and unintentionally harm his own allies; afterward, he felt genuine guilt over injuring Destruction. 103

Abilities & Skills

Law of Strength

Pangu wields the Law of Strength, a Dao defined by overwhelming destructive power. His attacks can shatter laws, rip apart Chaos space, and halt even the reversal of time and space. 9 11 69

  • Destroyed combined law attacks and multiple Demon Gods’ Dao bodies with casual axe swings. 10
  • Split a Hunyuan-realm expert and its thunder spear in a single strike. 35
  • Neutralized Shichen’s spacetime cage and struck through the Time Roulette during their later battle. 68
  • Can channel other Demon Gods’ laws through the Pangu Axe to magnify his attacks. 69
  • His complete true form’s pressure immobilized Taiyi, despite the latter’s system-enhanced cultivation, before Pangu even brought down his axe. 97 98
  • Can fuse the Law of Strength with the Dao of Time, producing golden-and-azure axe light capable of damaging entities far beneath his realm. 103 123

Dao of Time

Pangu refined a Dao of Time Dao mark granted by Shichen to support his breakthrough to the fifth heaven of the Chaos Realm. He can now wield Time alongside Strength, though the Dao of Strength remains his primary path. 74 103

  • Used Time and Strength together in the axe strike unleashed during his divinity-induced assault on Shichen. 103
  • Froze the Main God Space system’s surroundings in time before his Strength-based axe light severed its source. 123
  • Passed the Blade of Time, a divine ability he comprehended from the Dao of Time, to the Three Pure Ones. 106

One Force Breaks Ten Thousand Daos

Pangu’s signature full-power technique condenses the Dao of Strength into a devastating axe strike.

  • Annihilated Hundun space and evaporated Chaos origin energy during his first battle with Shichen. 11
  • Helped destroy the God of Systems’ blood-eye avatar when combined with Shichen’s time chains. 55
  • Was powerful enough that Yang Mei stopped Pangu from using it against a weaker universe, fearing the universe could not endure the attack. 78
  • Combined with Shichen’s Space-Time Slash against the God of Systems’ later avatar. 83
  • Nearly fell upon Taiyi during the Witch-Demon Calamity, but Pangu withdrew it after Hongjun warned that the Primordial World could not withstand the blow. 98
  • In its Time-Strength form, severed one-third of the Main God Space system’s source with a single axe strike. 123
  • Was transmitted by Pangu to the Twelve Ancestral Witches as a Great Dao divine ability. 106

Eternal Force

Eternal Force is a divine ability Pangu comprehended from the combined Great Daos of Time and Strength. 136

  • Its dual-colored axe light attacks simultaneously from the past, present, and future, crossing temporal boundaries before fixing what it strikes in eternal stillness. 136
  • Overpowered Fake Pangu’s all-out axe strike and destroyed the impostor despite the latter burning all of his origin to resist. 136

Heaven-Opening

Pangu can use a Dao body and Chaos Spirit Treasures to divide Chaos into heaven and earth.

  • Used the Pseudo-Pangu Axe to separate clear and turbid Chaos, establishing the foundations of the Primordial World. 17
  • Braced the newborn heaven and earth apart with his Dao body until the Three Thousand Demon Gods’ Dao bodies stabilized its laws. 17
  • His Dao body differentiated into the world’s sun, moon, stars, mountains, waters, and land after completing creation. 17

Dao Body Refinement

Pangu can refine Dao bodies separate from his true body.

  • Used a Dao body to open the heavens, preserving his true body from the Heaven-Opening backlash. 17
  • Later refined another Dao body to enter the Primordial World through Pangu Hall and investigate its anomaly. 70
  • His later Dao body operated through the anomaly’s system and could be recalled to his main body, helping Shichen suppress Pangu’s divinity. 74 103

True Form Manifestation

Pangu can descend in his complete true form when invoked through the bloodline-linked Twelve Capital Heavenly Gods Baleful Array. 97

  • His manifestation eclipsed the Primordial World, with its mere arrival causing heaven and earth to tremble. 97
  • In this form, he can directly intervene in Primordial World calamities and confront its Heavenly Dao. 98
