Background

Taotie awakened within the Fierce Beast Clan as a transmigrator who retained knowledge of the Primordial World's original future. He believed that remaining with the fierce beasts would end with his sealing in the Kunlun Forbidden Land during the Fierce Beast Calamity. 20

At his awakening, the Supreme Fierce Beast System bound itself to him. It promised to guide him to the Primordial Daluo Golden Immortal realm and make him master of the Primordial World, fueling his belief that he was a chosen “child of destiny.” 20

Following his capture, Hongjun confined Taotie in an independent space for nearly tens of thousands of epochs. During this period, he and the system were repeatedly compelled to complete tasks; the system exhausted much of its origin producing rewards, while Taotie was punished by Violet Firmament Divine Thunder whenever he slacked off. 114

Shichen eventually released Taotie and placed him in charge of the Main God Space. Taotie gathered origin through the missions he assigned to its participants and became increasingly comfortable in his administrative role. 114 202

After Taotie performed well, Shichen authorized him to reveal his identity openly after the Tribulation, excluded him from the Investiture of the Gods Calamity, and designated him as the future Heavenly Court God of Food. 202 206

Personality

Taotie is intensely self-preserving. He recognized the danger of the Fierce Beasts' indiscriminate slaughter and Shen Ni's increasingly destructive ambitions, then abandoned the clan rather than share its expected downfall. 21 22

He is also opportunistic and greedy. Although he warned Shen Ni against provoking the Primordial World's major clans, his attention immediately turned to stealing the World-Extinguishing Millstone once he learned it was in Shen Ni's possession. 21 His desire for the millstone, combined with the system's reward of the Chaos Bell, drove him to kill his wounded emperor and attempt a theft under Hongjun's watch. 23 26

His prolonged confinement broke his earlier ambition to rule the Primordial World. Upon being released, Taotie's foremost desire was simply to live peacefully, though he quickly embraced the chance to make others perform the kind of system tasks he had endured himself. 114

As manager of the Main God Space, he reveals a vindictive and mischievous side. He enthusiastically assigns absurd and humiliating missions to participants, including making powerful cultivators steal trivial or embarrassing objects. 202

Despite his irreverent behavior, Taotie remains extremely fearful of Shichen and Pangu. He offers exaggerated respect whenever they appear and is eager to preserve the favor that has secured his survival and future position. 202

Fierce Beast Calamity

Taotie emerged as one of the Four Great Fierce Beasts under Shen Ni's command, but his transmigrator knowledge made him wary of the clan's destined destruction. 20 He accepted Shen Ni's breakthrough resources while warning that excessive slaughter would bring Heavenly Dao's hostility and provoke the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin Clans. 21

Fearing that Shen Ni's breakthrough would make escape impossible, Taotie secretly left the Far West and delivered intelligence to the Dragon Clan. Hongjun, masquerading as Luo Hou, used this meeting to begin directing the three innate clans against Shen Ni. 22

When the war began, Taotie avoided the front lines and waited for Shen Ni to be defeated. 24 25 The system then supplied a temporary cultivation boost, allowing him to kill Shen Ni himself and claim the mission reward. 26

After Shen Ni's death, Hundun blamed Taotie and vowed revenge before dissolving into baleful qi. Hongjun then immobilized Taotie and took him away for investigation. 27

Capture and the System's Exposure

After killing Shen Ni, Taotie attempted to steal the World-Extinguishing Millstone. Hongjun immobilized him, saw through his supposed meeting with “Luo Hou,” revealed his real identity, and took the millstone before preserving Taotie on Shichen's instructions. 26

Hongjun later searched Taotie's memories, discovering the original future of the Primordial World and confirming that the system inside Taotie could provide coordinates to other worlds and acquire origin energy. Hongjun brought Taotie before Shichen and Pangu, who chose to exploit the system for the benefit of Hundun rather than destroy it. 28

Main God Space Management

Hongjun subsequently imprisoned Taotie within an independent space for tens of thousands of epochs, forcing him into an existence centered on completing system tasks and enduring punishment for failure. This experience drained the system's origin and left Taotie mentally broken. 114

Shichen eventually released Taotie and appointed him administrator of the Main God Space. Given authority to assign tasks and obtain origin from others, Taotie accepted the post enthusiastically and began turning his own experience with punishing missions upon new participants. 114 130

Over time, Taotie developed the Main God Space into a productive source of origin. He and the system monitored mission squads across many worlds, while Taotie's increasingly bizarre assignments made him infamous as a harsh divine envoy. 130 202

Recognition by Shichen and Heavenly Court Appointment

When Shichen and Pangu returned to the Main God Space, Taotie and the Ferocious Beast System immediately bowed in submission. Shichen absorbed the origin accumulated in the space and praised Taotie's performance. 202

Shichen then granted Taotie permission to stop suppressing his cultivation and promised him an official future identity. Taotie was designated the Heavenly Court's God of Food, responsible for food and sacrificial rites throughout the worlds, and was promised the possibility of advancing with the system's aid. 202

Shichen also ordered the Ferocious Beast System to infiltrate the network of systems attempting to rescue the sealed God of Systems. The system accepted in exchange for the chance to receive an innate physical body, become a free being, and enter Chaos Academy. 202

Exemption from the Investiture of the Gods

As Shichen accelerated the Investiture of the Gods Calamity, he explicitly exempted Taotie from participation and instructed Hongjun to prepare the calamity without including him. 206

When the Heavenly Court was established, Taotie's name appeared among its divine appointments as the God of Food. Haotian was surprised that a former member of the Fierce Beast Clan had received such a position, but recognized that only the highest powers could have authorized the appointment. 209
