Background and History

Creation on Blue Star

The Cosmic Elders Council’s original race selection contained no human template. Zhang Yang also found no Star Lord who recognized humans, so he chose to develop them himself rather than select an established race 1 4.

He accelerated and guided primate evolution through the Mara Ape and Forest Ape. Environmental dangers encouraged upright movement, toolmaking, group hunting, and communication. Zhang Yang strengthened the developing population and prevented some apex predators from entering its territory 4.

Humanity’s formal birth followed a tribe’s prayer for fire. Appearing as a figure made from clouds, Zhang Yang taught its leader to make fire by drilling wood and transmitted the word “human.” The tribe repeated the name, and neighboring tribes adopted it 4.

Sui subsequently spread writing, fire-making, rope-based counting, fishing nets, and knowledge of Blue Star and Father God across the continent 5.

Early Civilization and Unification

Fuxi and Nuwa united their tribes and established government, crafts, agriculture, written records, laws, calendars, and marriage customs. Their era became the beginning of the Blue Era. Under the later Shennong rulers, humanity’s population exceeded twenty million, while farming, trade, textiles, pottery, and metallurgy developed 6.

Xuanyuan defeated Shennong’s forces in Blue Era Year 2731, but the related peoples continued to coexist. Conflict later brought Xuanyuan, the Yan Emperor’s people, and Chiyou’s tribe into opposition—until Zhang Yang interrupted their battle to announce an approaching Star War 6 8.

The Yan Emperor joined Xuanyuan in 3145, followed by Chiyou in 3147. Huangdi became Human King, appointed Chiyou as God of War, and founded the Xia Dynasty, organized into Nine Provinces. Intermarriage and shared administration gradually merged the formerly separate tribes 9.

Simulated Origins and Later Revelations

Ancestor Yang Mei eventually revealed that Pangu had simulated a race with broad potential and cast the simulation’s memories onto a new planet. Those memories became Zhang Yang’s inherited knowledge and helped explain humanity’s familiar historical traditions and its combined technological and cultivation development 169.

Pangu later explained that the memories were designed to foster empathy toward humans: the first recipient who created humanity would retain them and become “Zhang Yang” 256. A subsequent revelation placed this process within a larger plan—Zhang Yang had sealed his memories and been reborn as a First-Level Star Lord so that humanity would grow under him as its creator rather than an aloof ruler of the universe 278.

Appearance and Biology

  • Evolutionary form: Humanity’s ancestors gradually lost body hair, walked upright, and developed an appearance and skeletal structure close to modern humans 4.
  • Early physical development: Energy enhancement and high oxygen levels made even the shortest Forest Apes approximately two meters tall, with considerable strength, agility, and running speed 4.
  • Comparison with dwarves: Humans encountered in the first Star War stood roughly twice the dwarves’ height 11.
  • Reproduction: Early humanity reproduced rapidly, making population growth a major advantage and increasing demand for land and spiritual resources 29 44.
  • Cultivation-driven changes: Human genetics change substantially by the Deity Transformation Realm; passing heavenly tribulation produces an immortal body without removing the cultivator’s human identity 165.
  • Cross-racial compatibility: Zhang Yang deduces that humans and elves can reproduce together, though the passage presents half-elven offspring as a future possibility rather than a documented population 39.

Lifespan and Genetic Enhancement

Measure Gene-Enhancement Serum R--Z-1 Revised Milky Way template
Basis Trial averages from nearly one million newly adult mortal volunteers 165 Racial template developed through a thousand years of experiments and simulations 253

Aging Improvements extend to offspring, hearing, eyesight, and organs 165 Adulthood at 20; appearance remains unchanged until 400, followed by bodily decline 253
Limits Primarily benefits mortals and low-level cultivators 165 Reduced fertility; full benefits apply to humans born in the Milky Way, with weaker effects elsewhere 253

Before these enhancements, average human lifespan rose from approximately 100 years in the early Blue Era to 150 years as medicine developed; the pre-cultivation technological limit was estimated at 200 years 6 24 25.

Abilities and Skills

Beast Taming and Beast Speech

Zhang Yang grants Beast Tamer as a genetic racial talent to all humanity, combining communication with animal affinity 9.

  • Supports farming, hunting, transportation, messaging, and warfare 9 10.
  • Enables dinosaur-mounted troops and pterosaur messengers 10 15.
  • Does not guarantee immediate control of powerful beasts: early cavalry and aerial-force experiments fail, while raising captured animals from infancy proves more effective 10.
  • Later allows human explorers to communicate with intelligent spirit beasts on the Sea-Listening Continent 66.

Immortal and Martial Cultivation

Humans initially cannot refine qi directly as the Immortal Race does. Research into meridians and body training establishes a workable human path 45 46.

  • Opening the Ren and Du Meridians permits further development into immortal cultivation or magic 47.
  • Spirit Stones, cultivation chambers, spirit water, and spiritual medicines accelerate training 46 50.
  • Advancement depends on constitution, age, resources, perseverance, and mental state; Zhang Han’s Foundation Establishment bottleneck is worsened by anxiety over his rank 46 49.
  • Zhang Han develops the Sword-Controlling Art, whose stages are sword control, qi control, and mind control. It requires Foundation Establishment cultivation 50.
  • Later human worlds also use a ranked Body Tempering path: first rank grants 1,000 jin of strength, with perfected Body Tempering reaching 10,000 jin 220.

Magic and Multiple Great Daos

Humanity develops no single exclusive cultivation specialization. Individuals can select systems according to talent and preference 40 46.

  • Early human magic offers water, wood, and wind, corresponding to the available magical elements on Blue Star 46 47.
  • Humans research changes to elven spell structures rather than treating inherited magic as perfectly suited to them 50.
  • Humanity eventually cultivates across the Three Thousand Great Daos, giving many Demon Gods an interest in its development 193.
  • Breadth does not mean equal innate efficiency: absorbing spirit-vein energy initially benefits humans less efficiently than the Immortal Race 44.
  • Unlike the God Race, humans at the Body Integration Realm can wield laws but cannot yet cultivate the power of laws itself 158.

Scientific Research and Adaptation

Humanity compensates for weak initial racial gifts through research, borrowed knowledge, and technological mass production 30 66 165.

  • Cultivation improves scientists’ intelligence and reflexes, accelerating rather than replacing technological development 50 51.
  • Machine Race manuals enable breakthroughs in controlled nuclear fusion, artificial intelligence, and nanomaterials 66.
  • Humans improve imported technology and eventually surpass the equipment knowledge supplied by Quark 143 165.
  • Technology remains dependent on infrastructure, materials, energy, and civilization-level restrictions; advanced equipment cannot simply be handed to a primitive population and used effectively 103 220.
  • Genetic engineering and Hextech Gene Potions provide enhancement beyond ordinary training, though the latter must be taken in sequence because skipping tiers can be fatal 165 200.

Technology, Weapons, and Infrastructure

Development Capabilities and significance
Bronze, iron, and early gunpowder Bronze tools accelerate tribal development; iron swords, catapults, and primitive gunpowder appear before the first Star War 6 10.
Industrial technology Dwarven assistance helps humanity advance through the Iron, Steel, and Steam Ages 16.
Reconnaissance and command systems Radios, radar, satellites, concealed command vehicles, and artillery coordination support Bai Qi’s invasion of Cross Planet 32 33.
Rocket Corps Nearly 2,000 mobile ballistic missile launchers deploy against the Immortal Race. Nuclear warheads are withheld to avoid contaminating captured spiritual resources 41.
Mechanical armies Coordinated robots use lasers and energy barriers, remain operational after severe damage, and absorb casualties without exposing human soldiers 78 79.
Mecha and powered armor Later systems combine protective armor, chips, targeting support, ray guns, drone cannons, and energy shields 78 153.
Qin-20 Aerospace Fortress Travels at twenty times light speed; its full-power gamma-ray laser strike rivals an early Mahāyāna attack, while its defensive coating withstands late Mahāyāna attacks 165.
Antimatter weapons Obtained through Yang Mei and the Cosmic Elders Council; decisively outmatch the Insect Race’s mostly third-level ships 193.
Great Wall An indestructible Cosmic Wonder surrounding the Primordial Continent; prevents Star Gates from forming inside its perimeter and becomes a symbol of human security 29.
Hextech Realm research Develops genetic potions and later investigates Two-Dimensional Foil, Droplet weapons, artificial black holes, and dark and red matter. These later projects remain subject to research and material requirements 200 279.

Society and Governance

Identity and Collective Outlook

Humanity repeatedly strengthens its shared identity under external pressure. Early tribal unification follows the Star War warning; later humans conclude that they belong to a single lineage because they have never encountered another human opponent. Explorers consequently rush to assist unfamiliar human crews in danger 8 9 120.

Innovation and ambition coexist with internal complexity. Humans modify borrowed techniques, create cultivation professions, and compete commercially, while Zhang Yang recognizes that their desires and politics can also produce destructive conflict. By the genetic-enhancement era, ambitious humans broadly favor seeking opportunities in the wider universe rather than fighting within humanity 50 165 203.

Institutions

  • Cultivation education: Children begin meridian and martial-arts training at seven. Secondary-school students can choose martial training or ordinary studies 47.
  • Human Race Genetic Union: Major dynasties, religious traditions, and sufficiently large sects jointly regulate genetic research. Modifications require a vote, developed serums must be freely shared, and illegal private alterations are punishable by death 165.
  • Heavenly Court: Established to administer the Heavenly Realm and protect humanity; the Three Pure Ones receive realms, palaces, and protective responsibilities 170.
  • Underworld: Manages the expanding lineage’s dead and reincarnation. New human worlds require branches and local divine administration 209 220 222.
  • Human Race Planet Construction, Management, and Support Bureau: A joint Heavenly Court–Underworld body governing the expanding human worlds. Initial provision includes one Underworld branch per thousand planets and local Land, Mountain, and City Gods 222.
  • Veteran–newcomer mentorship: Galaxy-wide training links cultivation ranks through teachers several levels above their students, with Demon Gods supplying specialist and combat instruction 260.

Planetary Development System

  • Human Race Technology Tree: Gives new Star Lords an inherited development path that Zhang Yang lacked when creating Blue Star’s original humanity 11 207.
  • Birth achievement: On Ye Fan’s planet, skilled tool use and speech—reached by 90% of its Homo sapiens—trigger the Birth of the Human Race achievement and activate Heavenly Net 209.
  • Human Planet Rankings: First-level human worlds compete over a central Crystal Tower on generated battlefields. Holding it for three days wins; rewards include energy, merit, and fortune 221.
  • Competition safeguards: Combatant limits, balancing mechanisms, and restrictions on excessive outside aid aim to prevent training contests from becoming technologically one-sided slaughter 221.
  • Raised advancement thresholds: Within Zhang Yang’s territory, first- and second-level combat-power ceilings become 50,000 and 200,000, replacing the Council’s 10,000 and 100,000 221.
  • Starting spiritual resources: New human planets later begin with two spirit veins and choose technology, cultivation, or both upon reaching second-level civilization 239.
  • Milky Way template incentives: Choosing humanity grants 10% more starting energy and reduces technology-tree upgrade costs by 10% 254.

Relationships

  • Zhang Yang — Creator and Father God. Humanity remains his core race even when other races offer stronger innate abilities; he develops those peoples primarily as support 4 44 116.
  • Pangu — Originator of the simulations behind humanity’s creation and a continuing supporter of its cosmic strategy 169 256 279.
  • Ancestor Yang Mei — Patron and intermediary who openly expresses confidence in humanity, supplies resources, and helps obtain advanced technology and instructors 170 193 260.
  • Dwarf Race — Humanity’s first subordinate race, initially sentenced to a thousand years of service. Dwarven craftsmanship accelerates human industry; later dwarves receive greater freedom and develop their own society, cultivation, and military specialization 15 24 29 97.
  • Elf Race — Humanity’s second subject race. Humans help resettle thirty million elves after the Cross campaign; elves subsequently contribute magic and fight alongside humanity 39 43 89.
  • Spirit Beasts — Communicating partners and combat allies. Their resistance to ghostly corruption makes them particularly useful where human cultivators struggle 66 90.
  • Demon Gods — Hold differing views on humanity but share an interest in its many cultivation paths. Their support is not a guarantee: humanity must demonstrate its strength and compete for resources 170 193.
  • Ye Fan and later human Star Lords — Reproduce human civilization on new worlds using the lineage’s guidance system and technology tree, eventually creating diverse planetary cultures 207 209 220.
