Background / History
Establishing the “Great Immortal” Persona
Li Xiang uses his knowledge of the group members’ stories to impersonate an immensely powerful immortal. Before Shi Hao joins, he has already used spoilers to obtain benefits from Wuyazi, Guo Jing, and Zhang Sanfeng, although Xiongba remains only partly convinced. Shi Hao identifies the deception after reading the chat history 3.
When three-year-old Shi Hao enters the group under the name “Desolate Heaven Emperor,” Li Xiang checks his profile and discovers his age, fondness for beast milk, and unlimited potential. Believing him to be the young future emperor, Li Xiang offers assistance in exchange for a Heavenly God Fruit—a treasure capable of turning an ordinary person into a Heavenly God 2 3.
Financing Shi Hao’s Milk Supply
Li Xiang’s promise to provide unlimited milk quickly exceeds his means. His first shipment contains one thousand jin; the next ten-thousand-jin purchase consumes his savings, earned through commissions at a scam company. Afterward, he worries that he will need to borrow money simply to eat 6 7.
Other members’ contributions temporarily relieve the burden, but Li Xiang eventually takes out an online loan worth tens of thousands of yuan to buy another ten thousand jin. He continues supplying Shi Hao because he considers ordinary milk a negligible investment compared with the future Heavenly God Fruit 11 16 19 26.
| Financial milestone | Chapter | Consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Exhausts his savings buying ten thousand jin of milk | 7 | Has no money left for food and considers borrowing. |
| Takes out an online loan | 26 | Purchases and sends another ten thousand jin. |
| Receives gold, silver, and jewelry from Ying Zheng | 32 | Believes he can clear his loans and support Shi Hao for years. |
| Sells part of Ying Zheng’s gifts | 41 | Gains tens of millions of yuan, leaves the scam company, and partners with a large dairy farmer. |
| Supplies one million jin in a single shipment | 48 | Greatly expands the resources available to Shi Hao. |
Protecting Shi Hao and His Own Authority
Li Xiang permanently mutes Umaru Doma immediately after she joins, publicly calling her a “barbarian” from Fusang. His actual motive is to prevent a modern Earthling from exposing his fraudulent immortal identity. The group lacks a member-removal function, so he cannot expel her 10 11.
His protection of Shi Hao is more genuine. When Xiongba offers milk in exchange for Buddha’s Palm, Li Xiang mutes him for half a day and forbids members from exploiting the child. Although Li Xiang also wants the manual, he decides against seeking it because of his limited martial talent and the risk that an older Shi Hao might recognize the manipulation 22 23 27.
Li Xiang repeatedly discourages members from teaching Shi Hao additional techniques, arguing that weaker arts could waste his time or interfere with his own world’s cultivation path. Privately, he also envies how easily Shi Hao receives inheritances that he himself struggles to obtain 4 5 35 45.
Requests Beyond His Capabilities
When the mortally wounded Gu Jianfei asks for rescue, Li Xiang cannot help. He disguises this inability as a refusal to interfere with fate, claiming that personal intervention would damage his blessings. Gu Jianfei accepts his authority and passes Buddha’s Palm to Shi Hao before dying 21 22.
Li Chungang later begs him to resurrect his beloved. Li Xiang again invokes fate and the Heavenly Dao, then mutes him for three days when the pleading continues 36.
His advice does sometimes provide useful information: he reveals that Jiu Jianxian has a daughter with the Holy Aunt of Nanzhao, prompting him to seek her out. After Anu fatally wounds Jiu Jianxian, Zhang Sanfeng questions whether Li Xiang foresaw the outcome. Li Xiang answers that he knows only their lives’ original course, not everything that can happen 38 48 49.
Tony Stark’s arrival prompts another immediate permanent mute. Shi Hao suspects the same motive as with Umaru: silencing modern Earthlings who might recognize the stories behind the members 47 48.
Personality
Li Xiang is calculating, cautious, and skilled at maintaining a convincing persona. Shi Hao observes that his performance contains few obvious mistakes and would likely deceive anyone unfamiliar with the webnovel-style routine. When challenged to demonstrate impossible powers, he protects his credibility with explanations about fate rather than admitting his limitations 6 21 36.
His admiration for the Desolate Heaven Emperor coexists with self-interest. He wants the Heavenly God Fruit, but also spends his savings, incurs debt, and intervenes against attempts to exploit Shi Hao. Shi Hao consequently regards him as someone who, despite being a fraud, genuinely treats him well 7 23 26 50.
He is openly envious of Shi Hao’s effortless gains. After watching another valuable inheritance go to the child, he regrets presenting himself as an established immortal rather than a future Heavenly Emperor who might attract similar gifts 22 45 46.
Abilities & Skills
Plot Knowledge and Persuasion
Li Xiang’s apparent foresight comes from spoilers and persuasive delivery, not demonstrated supernatural perception 3 21.
- Reveals members’ pasts, identities, and expected futures to establish credibility 3 21 29 35.
- Uses knowledge of secrets, such as Jiu Jianxian’s daughter, to reinforce his authority 38.
- Frames his inability to rescue or resurrect others as principled noninterference 21 36.
- Later qualifies his knowledge as awareness of the “original course” of members’ lives rather than omniscience 49.
Chat-Group Administration
The Myriad Worlds Chat Group is Li Xiang’s principal special advantage, which he regards as his personal “cheat” 3.
- Profile access: Can inspect members’ profiles; Shi Hao’s displays his name, age, hobby, and potential 2.
- Muting: Can impose timed or permanent speech restrictions 10 23 36 47.
- Announcements: Can address all members when issuing group-wide rules 23.
- Limitation: Cannot kick members out of the group 11.
- Planned upgrade: Says that upgrading the group to level two will open world travel; that upgrade is not shown as completed in the supplied chapters 49.
Resource Procurement
Li Xiang develops a reliable modern-Earth supply chain for Shi Hao’s milk 26 41.
- Buys fresh milk, packs it in wooden crates, and transfers it through group red envelopes 6 26.
- Establishes a partnership with a large dairy farmer after becoming wealthy 41.
- Still needs preparation time; even with dairy contacts, an order takes at least half an hour to arrange 47.
Cultivation Limitations
- Remains an ordinary person when asked to save Gu Jianfei and resurrect Li Chungang’s beloved 21 36.
- Acknowledges privately that he has little talent for martial arts 22.
- Obtains cultivation manuals, but no personal realm advancement is documented 22 46.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Northern Darkness Divine Art manual — Obtained from Wuyazi after considerable persuasion; Li Xiang contrasts that effort with Shi Hao’s effortless receipt of inheritances 22.
- Elixir Cauldron Sect Immortal Cultivation Method — Claims Jiu Jianxian’s shared, incomplete cultivation manual. The method can lead to a Primordial Spirit and a thousand-year lifespan, but Li Xiang is not shown attaining either 46.
- Promised Heavenly God Fruit — His intended reward for supporting Shi Hao, not an item he has received 3 46.
Relationships
- Shi Hao — Beneficiary of his financial support and protection, and the person from whom he expects a Heavenly God Fruit. Li Xiang believes the innocent-child performance, while Shi Hao recognizes his fraud and deliberately benefits from it 2 3 23.
- Xiongba — Initially skeptical of his claims; later a fellow milk supplier. Li Xiang distrusts his character and punishes his attempt to acquire Shi Hao’s Buddha’s Palm 3 19 23 27.
- Wuyazi, Guo Jing, and Zhang Sanfeng — Early members whom he persuades through spoilers. Their belief in his authority helps sustain his immortal persona 3 4.
- Ying Zheng — A wealthy group member whose gifts transform Li Xiang’s finances and make large-scale milk purchases sustainable 29 32 41.
- Gu Jianfei — A dying member whose request for rescue exposes the gap between Li Xiang’s claims and actual abilities 21 22.
- Li Chungang — A member he persuades with spoilers, then temporarily silences after repeated resurrection requests 35 36.
- Jiu Jianxian — Receives useful information from Li Xiang and supplies him with a cultivation manual; his death brings Li Xiang’s supposed foresight into question 38 46 49.
- Umaru Doma and Tony Stark — Modern-Earth members permanently silenced to protect, or apparently protect, his false identity 10 47 48.
