Background

Ace first appears at the East City Grand Department Store as an unusually strong wolf-man. After knocking Bulma down, he fights Sun Yu and reveals strength sufficient to force him back despite Sun Yu's 95,000 combat power. Ace and Sun Yu then move their battle onto the department store roof, where they trade high-speed physical attacks. 29 30

When Sun Yu releases his full power, Ace is overwhelmed and crashes through a building. Provoked further, Ace regresses into a feral wolf form, losing his rationality and targeting a fleeing young girl. Sun Yu restrains him with Time Stasis long enough to save her. 30 31

During his battle with Lana, Ace transforms again under the full moon into a giant wolf. Sun Yu identifies him as the product of Dr. Gero's Project X, a bioengineered android whose implanted genetic material appears to explain his moon-triggered transformation. 32

Ace continues fighting Lana in giant-wolf form until Sun Yu tears off his tail, forcing him back into his wolf-man form and leaving him critically injured. Sun Yu later revives him with a Senzu Bean rather than allowing him to die. 35 36

Following his revival, Ace repeatedly challenges Sun Yu and is repeatedly defeated, eventually submitting to him. He reveals that he killed Dr. Gero after Gero called him a beast. By the time Sun Yu and Lana prepare to leave Earth, Ace has settled into life with the Briefs family after Dr. Briefs buys him a steakhouse; he becomes their bodyguard. 36 37 39
