Background and History

Su Ming transmigrates to the Douluo Continent and grows up in a seaside fishing village near the Heaven Dou Empire. At six, he awakens an unimpressive Whirlwind Martial Soul. One system gradually increases his foundation with time; a second lets him simulate future lives and claim one reward after each run 1.

His first simulations end in deaths that reveal both his poor early combat ability and the protection afforded to bandits by the Vast Sea City lord. Su Ming repeatedly chooses permanent foundation gains over immediate cultivation. After learning of Ten-Thousand-Year Whale Rubber through a simulation, he finds it on the road and uses it to strengthen his body 1.

Once his Martial Soul evolves, Su Ming uses the wind to undermine the City Lord’s Mansion, target the bandits and take their valuables without confronting the lord openly. He then moves to Nuoding City, conceals his strength from Yu Xiaogang and waits near the academy for Xiao Wu 1. Later simulations give him knowledge of Ah Yin, Dugu Bo’s Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, and threats extending as far as the Divine Realm 3 13 49.

In reality, Su Ming rescues Ah Yin from Tang Hao’s cave after she begins recalling fragments of simulated events. He also intervenes against the dean of Nuoding Academy, but leaves Yu Xiaogang alive out of caution 13 14. His later simulations explore sharply different futures, including the growth and destruction of the West Wind Church, a period of amnesiac rebirth, and the creation of the West Wind Federation 23 63.

Appearance

Su Ming retains a youthful appearance even when his abilities lead others to underestimate him 51.

• He is described with green hair during his encounter with Liu Erlong 51.
• He can appear as a breeze or a partly solid phantom rather than a fully solid person 1 14.
• One simulated evolution gives him dragon scales, black-and-silver hair and luminous Dragon Eyes before a further transformation into a Taotie; this is not his established real-world appearance 30.

Personality

Su Ming approaches simulations as warnings and opportunities. He favors lasting foundation gains, studies the causes of his simulated deaths and avoids direct fights when a hidden approach is safer. His caution coexists with a strong appetite for revenge and useful resources 1 13.

He can be protective and generous toward people he considers his own, particularly Ah Yin and Dugu Bo, but his methods are often coercive or cruel. He uses theft, deception and intimidation readily, while his irreverent jokes persist even in dangerous situations 4 14 55.

In simulations, Su Ming discovers that his head pats can clear the mind and aid cultivation. He names the technique Ming’s Fatherly Headpat while raising Tang San 37 39.
