Background / History

Stark first notices Kraft Lee through a viral video featuring the Go-for-broke Treadmill Set. Using his verified account, he comments that he intends to buy one for his bodyguard, Happy Hogan. Though initially treating the purchase as a passing diversion, he later sees Happy's weight loss and takes a renewed interest in Kraft's inventions. 3 5

After becoming fascinated with Kraft's mechanical locks, Stark publicly praises them as more entertaining than a Rubik's Cube and says Stark Industries would welcome Kraft if he graduates college. His attention brings substantial media pressure and orders to Kraft's life. 5

Stark's AI, Jarvis, is subsequently challenged by Angela and Haro, Kraft's AIs. He refuses to disconnect his systems during their intrusion, allowing them to breach his network; the intruders ultimately take no data and identify themselves as “Red Queen.” 32 33

Following his abduction by Middle Eastern terrorists, Stark develops the Iron Man armor. His first public flights draw Kraft's attention, leading to a private technology test against Kraft's plush mech, Botakun. Stark is repeatedly caught off guard by Botakun's anti-gravity, size-changing equipment, weaponry, and λ-Driver-powered strikes. 40 41 42

After upgrading to the Mark III armor, Stark attacks terrorists using weapons supplied by Stark Industries, confronts Obadiah Stane and the Iron Monger, and publicly declares himself Iron Man. 44 45

Nick Fury subsequently visits Stark's seaside villa to propose the Avengers initiative. Stark dismisses the proposal with jokes about the team's name and the salary S.H.I.E.L.D. would have to pay him. His refusal does not end Fury's efforts to recruit him. 46

While Stark Industries undergoes restructuring and the government pressures him to surrender his armor, Stark organizes the Stark Expo. Angela identifies its potential to promote Arc Reactor technology and strengthen his public position. Stark also interviews numerous prospective chief executives, apparently preparing to hand over management responsibilities. 53

Stark's continued dependence on a palladium-core Arc Reactor causes progressive poisoning. During a private discussion with Kraft, he seeks information about Kraft's room-temperature fusion reactor as a possible alternative power source. He admits that shrapnel near his heart requires the reactor's protection, but refuses to abandon the power supply needed to operate his armor. Fury later helps resolve his palladium poisoning, contributing to Stark's participation in the Avengers. 68 69 94

Stark wins a public hearing over the government's attempt to obtain his suit. His remarks inadvertently intensify Ivan Vanko's resentment, while his birthday-party fight with James Rhodes ends with Rhodes taking the Mark II. Kraft interprets Stark's willingness to let the armor go as an attempt to put his affairs in order while facing possible death. 71 72

At the Stark Expo, Stark faces Vanko's hacked Iron Soldiers, Rhodes's compromised armor, and Norman Osborn's Green Goblin. His increasingly sophisticated vibranium armor allows him to survive their attacks, though the encounter also exposes limitations in his offensive equipment. 73 74 75 76

Stark later fights alongside the Avengers during Loki's invasion of New York. He risks his life carrying a nuclear missile away from the city, survives with help from the Ancient One and Kraft, and opposes Kraft's attempt to kill Loki because of the danger of war with Asgard. 100 104

After the invasion, Stark supports Kraft's mechanical-prosthetics project, continues developing new armor, and pursues the Ultron Initiative. Wanda Maximoff's visions of an arms race and a stronger alien invasion deepen his fears, but he responds by adding safeguards rather than abandoning the project. He also personally apologizes to Wanda and Pietro for the suffering associated with Stark Industries weapons, helping end their grudge against him. 108 111 117 188 190

The deployment of Stark and Bruce Banner's Iron Legion provokes public and political opposition. Stark refuses to surrender Ultron to the authorities and eventually activates the Initiative's final plan despite sustained criticism. After abandoning the project, he stops wearing his armor, asks the Dream Company to discontinue Iron Man merchandise, and begins reconsidering his role while planning his wedding to Pepper. 211 217 219

Kraft subsequently gives Ultron a human body made from Stark's blood and constructs a false identity for him as Notru Stark, an illegitimate son whose mother died during the Ultron crisis. Stark accepts the apparent paternity and brings Notru home. He later deduces Notru's true identity, receives Kraft's confirmation, and thanks him for giving Ultron this second life. 219 240

Despite his earlier withdrawal, Stark later joins Earth's coalition operation against Thanos near Saturn, exchanging jokes with Steve Rogers before the heroes launch a decapitation strike against the invading fleet. 280

Personality

Stark is flamboyant, sarcastic, and accustomed to using wealth to solve problems. He casually buys Kraft's products, publicly fiddles with mechanical locks, and initially dismisses Botakun as a child’s toy. 4 5 41

He is also intensely competitive. Rather than disconnecting his network when Angela and Haro overwhelm Jarvis, Stark abandons defense to counterattack and identify the intruder. He similarly refuses to concede the Botakun spar despite being outmatched. 32 42

After his kidnapping, Stark becomes more responsible about his technology and chooses to personally stop terrorists armed with Stark Industries weapons. He also respects Kraft's privacy after deducing that Kraft likely piloted Botakun. 44 45 43

His competitiveness extends to superhero spectacle. After admiring Spider-Man's transformation belt and feeling upstaged by Spider-Man and Shining Locust, he commissions an Iron Man theme song. He also asks for an official Dream World character after Arale defeats him in the game. 73 94 196

Stark develops a watchful, mentor-like concern for Kraft. He repeatedly tries to steer the boy away from extreme ideas and recruit him into superhero work, but accepts Kraft's refusal to join his proposed team. Their frequent arguments coexist with genuine concern, mutual secrecy, and practical support. 83 94 108

His willingness to remain Iron Man persists even when his reactor threatens his life. Kraft initially considers this irrational, but comes to respect the conviction behind Stark's insistence that the suit is inseparable from his identity. His attempt to carry the nuclear missile away from New York demonstrates that his commitment extends beyond personal survival. 69 70 104

Stark's distrust of political authorities is reinforced by the World Security Council's nuclear strike on New York. He acknowledges that his own judgment can be wrong, yet places substantial trust in Ultron as a system that could police even its creator. This combines a recognition of personal fallibility with confidence in technological solutions. 211

He eventually expresses regret over Ultron, stating that the failure arose from his own insufficient consideration rather than from Ultron himself. His subsequent care for Notru gives this regret a personal dimension, although Notru repeatedly tests his patience. 219 237 240

Abilities & Skills

Engineering and Armor Development

Stark rapidly develops and refines powered armor systems, addressing flaws discovered through use and combat.

  • Upgrades from the Mark II to the Mark III, resolving high-altitude freezing, improving firepower, and adding sound-dampening measures. 44
  • Incorporates Vibranium into critical parts of the Mark III helmet and plans further Vibranium-based armor development. 44
  • Adds combat-technique data, limb thrusters, and an electric-shock device to improve close-quarters performance. 44
  • Constructs a miniature arc reactor capable of sustaining the Iron Man armor and keeping the shrapnel in his body from killing him. 45
  • Develops the vibranium-armored Mark VI, whose protection withstands attacks from Green Goblin and Vanko's electric whips, although vibranium's electrical conductivity remains a limitation. 73 74 76
  • Incorporates a sonic system that can form a protective shield or emit damaging sound waves. The shield disrupts the ultrasound Kraft uses to disable vibranium. 75
  • Continues producing new armor designs after the Battle of New York, leaving construction to Jarvis. 111
  • Uses Dream World to test new suit designs by sending their data to Kraft. He recognizes the virtual tests as an additional verification method rather than a perfect replacement for real-world conditions. 196

Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity

Stark works closely with Jarvis to operate, design, and defend his systems.

  • Personally counters Angela and Haro during their direct network assault, though their combined capabilities overcome his defenses. 32
  • Continually upgrades Jarvis with additional hardware after repeated clashes with Angela. 36
  • Uses Jarvis for armor manufacturing, data analysis, threat alerts, and technical recommendations. 40 44
  • Considers giving Jarvis a virtual avatar after seeing Angela's lifelike projection; Jarvis later appears in a butler-like projected form. 69 108 111
  • Optimizes Jarvis while developing Ultron, including writing an entirely new system intended to make intrusion more difficult. 188
  • Serves as the primary creator of Ultron, working with Bruce Banner and adding extensive underlying safeguards against hostile takeover or independent rebellion. Their AI-development method includes uploading brain waves to improve thought and self-awareness. 188 212 219
  • Directs Ultron to spar with Angela in Dream World as a test of his capabilities. Stark is willing to ask Kraft to repair shortcomings after the finished system has been evaluated. 212 213

Iron Man Piloting and Combat

Stark pilots his armor in aerial movement, armed intervention, and close-range combat.

  • Operates the Mark II in flight and uses its arc-pulse hand cannon against Botakun. 40 41
  • Uses the Mark III to travel to the Middle East, eliminate terrorists, and fight the Iron Monger. 44 45
  • Has some boxing instruction from Happy Hogan, though Kraft considers his close-combat skill incomplete. 42
  • Regularly practices with Happy after his defeat by Botakun and collects fighting-technique data for an automated armor combat mode. 76
  • Coordinates with Spider-Man during the Stark Expo battle, assigning him civilian protection while Stark occupies the hostile machines and Green Goblin. 73
  • Helps subdue Loki in Stuttgart and participates in the Avengers' operations during the New York invasion. 100 104
  • Carries a nuclear missile upward despite the invasion portal closing before he can pass through it, continuing even when the maneuver appears likely to kill him. 104

Limitations and Medical Condition

  • Shrapnel near the heart — Fragments from the terrorist attack remain in his bloodstream and could reach his heart without the Arc Reactor holding them in place. The doctor who could perform the removal lost the use of both hands in a car accident. 69
  • Palladium poisoning — His reactor's palladium core progressively poisons him. He investigates Kraft's fusion technology as a replacement, and Fury later helps resolve the condition. 69 94
  • Unresolved shrapnel removal — After the Battle of New York, Kraft questions why Stark still avoids removal when nanobots and Wakandan medical technology should make it safer. Stark changes the subject rather than answering. 104
  • Armor dependence — His protection, mobility, and offensive power depend heavily on his equipment and its energy supply. An inadequate reactor compromises his fight against the Iron Monger, and his armor loses power after the nuclear-missile maneuver. 45 104
  • Technology-focused counters — Kraft's “Master Craftsman” ability, which increases machine failure rates, is described as a potential natural counter to equipment-dependent opponents such as Iron Man; no use of it against Stark is established in the cited account. 83

Power Progression

Stage / Advancement Development and Capabilities Limitations / Significance Chapters
Armor developed during captivity Develops Iron Man armor after being abducted by Middle Eastern terrorists. Establishes the technological foundation for his superhero career. 36 40 110
Mark II Flight-capable silver-white prototype with an arc-pulse hand cannon. Incomplete weapon loadout; suffers from high-altitude freezing and is outmatched by Botakun's unusual systems. 40 41 42 44
Mark III Adds freezing resistance, stronger firepower, sound reduction, combat data, limb thrusters, an electric-shock device, and critical vibranium protection. Limited initial vibranium stock prevents complete vibranium construction; use of an older reactor reduces performance against the Iron Monger. 44 45
Palladium-poisoning resolution Fury helps resolve the poisoning caused by Stark's reactor. Removes the immediate health crisis associated with continued reactor use, but shrapnel removal remains unresolved. 94 104
Mark VI and sonic protection Fields vibranium armor and a sonic system that disrupts Kraft's anti-vibranium ultrasound; adds an automated combat mode supported by fighting-technique data. Vanko's whips can restrain him and conduct shocks through the armor; expenditure of his single-use laser leaves him short of effective attacks against Vanko's thick armor. 73 74 75 76
Continued armor and Jarvis upgrades Designs further suits, develops Jarvis's avatar, and later rewrites and optimizes Jarvis's system during Ultron development. Angela remains capable of challenging Stark's AI defenses; an earlier virus temporarily corrupts Jarvis's avatar. 108 111 188
Virtual armor testing Uses Dream World to verify new suit designs through uploaded data. The simulation does not perfectly reproduce real-world conditions. 196
Ultron and the Iron Legion Creates an autonomous AI and a growing force of robotic Iron Guardians with Banner; proposes making peace Ultron's highest priority and allowing him to judge, arrest, or kill Stark if necessary. Deployment raises concerns about automation, private military power, oversight, and AI authority. 211 212 217
Withdrawal after the Ultron Initiative Abandons the Initiative and stops wearing the Iron Man suit while reassessing his actions. A voluntary interruption of superhero activity rather than an established loss of engineering ability. 219
Participation against Thanos Rejoins Earth's heroes for the coalition's operation near Saturn and its planned decapitation strike. The supplied account does not identify a new armor model for this operation. 280

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Iron Man Mark II — Silver-white prototype armor with flight capability and an arc-pulse hand cannon; lacks substantial weaponry during the Botakun test. Rhodes later takes the suit after fighting Stark at his birthday party, and its systems are subsequently compromised during the Stark Expo attack. 40 41 42 72 73
  • Iron Man Mark III — Red-and-gold armor improved for freezing resistance, firepower, sound reduction, close combat, and critical Vibranium protection. 44 45
  • Iron Man Mark VI — Vibranium-armored suit used during the Stark Expo conflict. Its durability exceeds Vanko's offensive capacity, but it remains vulnerable to restraint and electrical conduction. 76
  • Sonic Weapon / Shield System — Armor-mounted system that emits offensive sound waves or creates a shield capable of disrupting ultrasound directed at Stark's vibranium armor. 75
  • Single-Use Laser — Powerful armor weapon capable of seriously damaging Vanko's mech, but already expended against Kraft before Stark confronts Vanko. 76
  • Miniature Arc Reactor — Stark's chest-mounted power source; a prior reactor saves him after Obadiah Stane steals the newer one. It also protects him from shrapnel near his heart, although its palladium core initially causes poisoning. Arc Reactors can use palladium or a new element as fuel. 45 69 321
  • Jarvis — Stark's artificial intelligence, responsible for armor support, security, analysis, and manufacturing assistance. Later receives a virtual avatar and a redesigned operating system. 4 32 44 108 188
  • Ultron — Advanced AI developed principally by Stark with Banner's participation. Intended to support a peacekeeping system, but later separated from the abandoned Initiative and placed in a human body by Kraft. 188 211 212 219
  • Iron Legion / Iron Guardians — Robotic force created by Stark and Banner for large-scale intervention and law enforcement. Its growing numbers prompt objections concerning employment, state authority, and concentration of armed power. 211 217
  • Dream World Character and Testing Access — Stark's official representation in Kraft's virtual world allows players to challenge him and gives Stark a platform for testing armor designs. 196

Relationships

  • Kraft Lee — Technological rival and initially suspected Botakun pilot. Stark first promotes Kraft's inventions, later loses a private armor test to Botakun, and chooses not to expose Kraft's identity. Their relationship develops into a quarrelsome friendship in which Stark offers guidance, protects secrets, and supports Kraft's projects. Kraft retains embarrassing footage of the Botakun fight and refuses Stark's requests to delete it. Stark eventually thanks Kraft for turning Ultron into Notru. 3 5 42 43 53 69 83 108 240
  • Jarvis — Stark's AI assistant and cybersecurity partner; assists with armor development and defends Stark's systems against Angela and Haro. Jarvis's dry humor frequently punctures Stark's pride, and his avatar becomes a target of Angela's playful cyberattacks. 4 32 44 53 108 111
  • Happy Hogan — Bodyguard and friend. Stark gives him the Go-for-broke Treadmill Set, which prompts Happy's major weight loss. Happy also teaches him boxing and continues practicing combat with him after the Botakun defeat. 4 5 42 76
  • Pepper Potts — Personal assistant and trusted confidante. She helps Stark obtain evidence of Stark Industries' illegal arms transactions and learns his Iron Man identity. She later becomes his partner and intended wife, but postpones their wedding out of consideration for Notru's feelings. 33 45 219 275
  • Obadiah Stane — Stark Industries shareholder who steals Stark's arc reactor and fights Stark using the Iron Monger. 45
  • Nick Fury — S.H.I.E.L.D. director who attempts to recruit Stark for the Avengers initiative; Stark initially declines. Fury later helps resolve his palladium poisoning. Their cooperation remains strained by disagreements over the Iron Legion and control of Ultron. 46 94 108 211
  • Colonel James Rhodes — Stark's friend who helps him return safely after the military intercepts him. Stark allows him to take the Mark II after their birthday-party fight, protects him during the Stark Expo crisis, and later rescues him from rubble while investigating his disappearance with the Iron Patriot. 45 72 73 74 118
  • Peter Parker / Spider-Man — Young superhero who admires Stark. They cooperate during the Stark Expo battle and the New York invasion; Stark appreciates Peter's help while envying the spectacle of his transformation belt. 73 100 104
  • Bruce Banner — Fellow Avenger and scientific collaborator. They work together on Ultron and the Iron Legion, and Stark remains involved in efforts to improve Banner's relationship with Hulk after Kraft withdraws from those experiments. 108 111 211 219
  • Steve Rogers / Captain America — Fellow Avenger whose restrained approach often contrasts with Stark's sarcasm. They trade barbs, cooperate to prevent Kraft from killing Loki, and later use humor to steady themselves before the operation against Thanos. 100 104 280
  • Thor — Fellow Avenger with whom Stark has recurrent friction. Stark questions Asgard's promises after Loki's invasion, while nevertheless recognizing that Earth cannot safely provoke an Asgardian war. He later enjoys Kraft's verbal confrontation with Thor. 100 104 108 194
  • The Ancient One — Sorcerer who saves Stark during the nuclear-missile crisis by opening a portal to a desert. This intervention later forms part of his explanation for distrusting the Council that ordered the strike. 104 211
  • Martin Lee — Kraft's adoptive father, who thanks Stark for looking after Kraft. They cooperate around Kraft's medical and prosthetic work, although Martin does not assume Stark's friendship will always outweigh American political interests. 108 116
  • Misty Knight — Recipient of Kraft's mechanical prosthetic after Stark arranges for her to meet him. Fury had initially asked Stark to design her replacement arm. 108 110
  • Wanda and Pietro Maximoff — Initially seek revenge against Stark because his company's weapons destroyed their family. Stark apologizes personally, and they abandon their grudge after learning he did not sell the weapons himself and had closed the weapons division. They decline his invitation to join the Avengers, but later have a friendly, mentor-like relationship with him. 120 188 190 196
  • Ultron / Notru Stark — Stark's AI creation, later transformed by Kraft into an ordinary human child genetically derived from Stark's blood. Stark initially accepts Notru as an illegitimate son and tries to care for him despite his hostility. After discovering the truth, Stark acknowledges Kraft's help and leaves the relationship to develop between himself and Ultron. 219 237 240
  • Angela — Kraft's AI and technological rival to Jarvis. Stark admires her projection and lifelike robotic form, but considers her a possible threat to Ultron's security. She later challenges his criticism of Kraft's robots by pointing to the failure of the Ultron project. 32 69 111 188 237
  • Arale — Kraft's younger sister, whose strength defeats Stark in Dream World. His request for an official game character is partly motivated by a desire to get even with her. 195 196
  • Hank Pym — Scientist hostile toward Stark Industries. Stark initially investigates whether Botakun's size-changing technology involves Pym Particles, and the two later exchange personal barbs about their families and technological legacies at Darren Cross's presentation. 43 237
  • Justin Hammer — Business and technological rival whom Stark publicly embarrasses during the armor hearing. Hammer's Iron Soldiers become part of Vanko's attack at the Stark Expo. 71 73
  • Ivan Vanko — Rival who resents Stark's reputation and claims to Arc Reactor technology. Vanko misinterprets Stark's hearing remarks as mockery of his father, accelerates his weapons work, and later attacks through hacked machines and his own armored mech. 71 73 76
  • Norman Osborn / Green Goblin — Attacks Stark during the Expo to protect his military-business interests and eliminate a competitor. His vibranium armor initially makes their confrontation a stalemate. 73 74

Story Role / Major Arcs

Kraft Lee's Publicity

Stark's verified comment and purchase of Kraft's treadmill set help make Kraft’s Clever Hands Channel widely known. His later public enthusiasm for Kraft's mechanical locks intensifies the publicity further. 3 5

Red Queen Network Incident

Stark and Jarvis face Angela and Haro in a direct cyber conflict. Although the two AIs breach Stark's network, they do not steal information, leaving Stark intrigued by the AI calling itself Red Queen. 32 33

Their rivalry continues through repeated online clashes and hardware upgrades. Stark's willingness to provide Jarvis with substantial computing resources forces Kraft to expand Angela's own support systems. 36

Botakun Test Fight

After Angela relays Kraft's challenge, Stark meets Botakun near his seaside villa. He underestimates the plush-looking mech and is overwhelmed by its stun baton, anti-gravity mobility, heavy weapons, and λ-Driver-enhanced punches before using Pepper's call as a reason to end the match. 40 41 42

The defeat becomes a persistent source of embarrassment. Stark proposes a rematch after improving his armor, but Kraft refuses because he already possesses footage of his victory and sees little benefit in risking a loss. Their exchanges instead become an online contest of taunts and embarrassing videos. 53 83

Becoming Iron Man

After returning from terrorist captivity, Stark builds the Mark III, intervenes against terrorists equipped with Stark Industries weapons, defeats Obadiah Stane's Iron Monger, and publicly announces his identity as Iron Man. 44 45

He then resists both Fury's initial recruitment attempt and government pressure to surrender the armor. His eventual cooperation with the Avengers follows further efforts by Fury, including assistance with his reactor-induced poisoning. 46 71 94

Palladium Poisoning and the Stark Expo

Stark's public confidence conceals a worsening medical crisis. His private meeting with Kraft becomes an exchange about reactor technology, mortality, and the meaning of being Iron Man. Kraft agrees to keep the condition secret, reciprocating Stark's protection of his own secrets. 68 69

At the Expo, Stark confronts a convergence of rival technologies: Vanko's hacked Iron Soldiers, Rhodes's compromised Mark II, Green Goblin's vibranium armor, and Kraft's Kshatriya. He protects Rhodes from Kraft's Funnels and uses his sonic shield to counter Kraft's anti-vibranium ultrasound. The later fight with Vanko prompts him to recognize the need for a dedicated melee weapon and rely on his armor's tougher shell and automated combat mode. 73 74 75 76

The Battle of New York

Stark helps subdue Loki in Stuttgart before the Avengers' tensions intensify aboard the Helicarrier under the influence of Loki's scepter. When the invasion begins, he contacts Kraft and obtains his agreement to help defend New York. 100

The portal closes before Stark can carry the Council's nuclear missile through it. He continues upward despite the apparent need to sacrifice himself, but the Ancient One provides a safe destination through a portal. Kraft catches Stark when his armor runs out of power and returns him to Stark Tower to replace the reactor and change suits. 104

After Loki is captured, Stark and Steve stop Kraft from killing him, arguing that Earth cannot risk war with Asgard. Stark remains skeptical of Thor's promise that Loki will be imprisoned and never return. Footage of Stark carrying the missile later becomes central to the public scandal over the Council's decision to sacrifice New York; Stark recognizes Kraft's involvement in its release but does not retaliate. 104 105

Post-Invasion Support and Technological Rivalry

Stark assures Kraft that the Avengers owe him for closing the portal and will try to shield him from political pressure. He offers Stark Industries' support for mechanical prosthetics, encourages broader access rather than selective distribution, and arranges Misty Knight's treatment. Despite Kraft's request that he stay away, Stark attends the laboratory meeting with Pepper. 108

When attacks linked to the supposed Ten Rings strike Happy and Martin Lee's shelter, Stark publicly challenges the organization. Jarvis detects the subsequent attack on his mansion early enough for a fully armed Stark to repel the attackers. Stark later follows Rhodes's disappearance and rescues him from the resulting rubble. 117 118

Stark also participates in Kraft's launch of NERvGear and Dream World. After playing with Pepper and suffering defeat by Arale, he requests a formal game character and adopts the platform as another tool for testing armor. 194 195 196

The Maximoffs and Responsibility for His Weapons

Wanda's illusions force Stark to confront catastrophic possibilities associated with his inventions and Earth's vulnerability. Rather than ending the Ultron Initiative, he adds extensive contingencies and restrictions. 188

Learning about the Maximoffs' tragedy, Stark volunteers to meet them personally. His apology and the siblings' independent discovery that he neither sold the offending weapons nor continued the weapons division allow them to relinquish their hatred. Their refusal to join the Avengers does not negate this reconciliation. 188 190

Ultron Initiative and Withdrawal

Stark and Banner create the Iron Legion without consulting S.H.I.E.L.D. or the World Security Council. The robots' intervention raises concerns about displaced police officers, but Fury emphasizes the deeper issue of a private army under one individual's control. Stark refuses to hand over Ultron, citing his distrust of authorities who nearly killed him during the New York invasion. 211

Stark proposes an autonomous safeguard under which Ultron would prioritize peace and could act against Stark himself. He also tests Ultron against Angela in Dream World, where their data-based duel remains evenly matched until Arale overwhelms both. 211 212 213

Despite opposition from officials, civilians, and other superheroes, Stark activates the Initiative's final plan and deploys an expanded Iron Legion. He eventually abandons the project and voluntarily suspends his superhero activities, recognizing that his recent actions can no longer straightforwardly be described as superhero work. 217 219

Notru Stark and Ultron's Second Life

Kraft addresses Ultron's remaining resentment by giving him a human life rather than allowing another AI uprising. Angela constructs the documentary background, Martin implants supporting false memories, and Kraft uses Stark's blood and the Soul Stone to create and animate the child's body. The fabricated story places Notru in an orphanage before a reporter exposes his apparent connection to Stark. 219

Stark accepts Notru and brings him home, while the child repeatedly causes trouble as a supposed son who blames him for his mother's death. Pepper later delays the wedding out of consideration for Notru. 219 275

Stark eventually notices that Notru's name reverses “Ultron” and connects Kraft's programming expertise and support of the orphanage to the deception. Kraft confirms the identity and explains that the body has no known powers, although the long-term consequences of placing an AI's soul in it are uncertain. Stark thanks him, and Kraft leaves the father-and-son relationship for the two to resolve themselves. 240

Parallel-World Counterparts

Kraft later encounters Tony Stark counterparts in another universe. During that world's Battle of New York, he intercepts the nuclear missile with a Portal Gun and deploys a fleet against the Chitauri, introducing himself to the local Stark as a friend from a parallel world. Separately, the time-traveling Avengers' Stark witnesses the intervention and learns that Kraft can lend the Infinity Stones needed for their mission. 268

The time-traveling Stark reacts to footage of the Botakun fight much like Kraft's own Stark, demanding that it be deleted. He is also baffled by Kraft's ability to enlarge a supply of Pym Particles and by the revelation that Ultron lives as Notru in Kraft's world. These exchanges explicitly distinguish the counterparts' histories rather than establishing those events for the original Stark. 269

After the alternate world's confrontation with Thanos, Kraft visits Stark's country home and meets his daughter Morgan. This Stark shares the original's fascination with puzzle locks and demonstrates a tender paternal manner. Kraft uses the family reunion and gossip about Notru to tease the two worlds' Starks and Peppers. 272 273 275

Morgan subsequently adopts Kraft's taste for pranks and Angela's pirate persona, leaving her father bitterly regretting their extended visit. Morgan is the daughter of this alternate-world Stark, not an established daughter of the original-world character. 275 276

Earth's Operation Against Thanos

Stark participates in the Earth coalition's ambush near Saturn. He and Steve exchange jokes to manage their anxiety before the heroes enter Thanos's ships through Kamar-Taj portals for a decapitation strike. The operation takes place after Stark's earlier withdrawal from superhero work. 219 280
